<rant>The next developer who comes to me with some infrastructure "solution" they've cargo culted from an AWS tutorial and demands I integrate it into production may result in one less developer on the planet followed by me appearing on CNN in a bad way.</rant>
For the developers that don't understand this rant: "Hey I know we're a python/Linux shop but I found this really cool chunk of C# code on the Web. Just integrate into our prod code, would you?"

Scratch that, spoke too soon. The final install also succeeded but now the box won’t reboot. So all was well until 20.04 and 20.04 → 22.04 borked it.
Fun times.
Can’t even get an ssh shell in.
Meh, rebuild from scratch it is then, I guess.

Just updated a server I hadn’t touched in over six years from Ubuntu 16.04 → 18.04 → 20.04 → 22.04 and it all went smoothly; not a single issue.
I can’t wait for a server with Fedora Silverblue-style upgrades (CoreOS?) that’s supported by the major VPS providers in default images. Tried a while back to get Hetzner to support CoreOS but the process appears somewhat stuck:

We tried #NoOps, but it was not possible in reality. Not least because complex systems break in disorderly & unpredictable ways all the time.
But now AI has learned to code, which is by definition both orderly & predictable.
Seems NoDevs is way more likely than NoOps ever was.
