They're otherwise free and I get that they're growing and have increasing costs but this makes me so sad

this is an awful business, Rod

it doesn’t even make sense that they refuse to deal with people in writing.

I do not have autism, but for various reasons i some times find myself unable to speak at all. I am also not legally deaf, but after discussion with my psychologist, i signed up for the national relay service.
while i absolutely agree with you it is shameful the various ways government departments now ignore people, i hope you consider using the national relay service.

there are various options, depending on your needs, including a facility that allows you to deal with the relay service using text messages on your phone. this means you do not need to sign up for special equipment used by people in the deaf community.

  5. I just applied for a job requiring...no, demanding that I'm able to speak English.
I'm pretty sure I'd be able to use the equalities act and reasonable adjustments.

but I'm going with I can speak English, I'm just currently unable to vocalise that English.
