It all boils down to two choices: either fully invade, destroy, and capture the Islamic Republic and secure US objectives, or withdraw and make a serious, genuine effort to de-escalate and resume negotiations. There's no being in between. Worse, there's no easy way out, which is evidence that the US probably should not have been involved in the war in the first place.

  2. Interventionism and noninterventionism both end up being awful in practice because interventionism is used to make the lives of others worse and noninterventionism is used as an excuse to not help people defend themselves against the interventionism that is making people's lives worse. 

    The solution then is not to automatically denote either of these things as intrinisically good, but to actively go against the grain in how they are commonly applied.
