Over the last month, we have seen heatwaves and wildfires across Europe. One of the many stories that stuck with me deeply was an interview with a mortician in France, talking about their morgues overflowing because there were so many excess heat deaths.

They are still trying to deal with the aftermath of the glacial collapse in Tibet and Nepal, counting the dead and trying to find any survivors. We have many students here who will have lost friends or family.
