Robert Hawker, evangelical, Anglican preacher, makes suggestions for a children’s catechism. He urges them to consider every time that they meet a poor stranger, to consider if that person might be one of the “brethren” Christ referred to in Matthew 25:31-46. And then to consider kindness to these poor strangers as being done to Christ.
Would we want kids being taught this today?
How can you open your heart to poor strangers?

Alexander Crummel, Episcopal priest, abolitionist, civil rights activist. Here he celebrates the “Christian sentiment” “forcing itself” upon the world and its leaders and policies. It fixes a noble sentiment and a moral code.
The moral code in his context was racial justice. The CNs of today want forced values but that includes freedom from hearing about injustice. The libs meanwhile don’t see justice in the received Xn tradition.
