@stefano my blood test place is adjacent to a bakery ... every 3 months I sneak in afterwards, and get this tasty bun called an Italiener.. its a faintly vanilla flavoured bun, laden with raisins, smothered in forbidden sugar. Pairs beautifully with butter inside, and a flat white coffee to balance things out. #nomnomnom

Red velvet cake, with cream cheese filling and a chocolate ganache drizzle over the top and down the sides... with cho dipped starwberries.

Made by a wonderful lady I know who used to run one of the best cake and coffee cafe's in the area... But who gave up the lease last year because the local council were fucking them about over the lease... and turns out, wanted to install some one else in the premises instead... spent a load of money refurbishing it only for it to be selling garbage, pre packed crap food.

But I kept in touch, and she still bakes cakes on the side for people... and her prices are ridiculous. A 3 tier cake that will give you 14-16 slices, decorated... £25... Most people would charge 3x that without half the effort.

I keep telling her to charge more, I try to give her more... she refuses.

She's made all our cakes now for the last 3yrs.

A restaurant with comfortable, padded chairs? Yes please! Also, the Spreyton Cider Co. makes some delicious ciders, if you're into good food and drinks in a comfortable setting.

#BadPicsOFood time... it's sunday, and that means a sunday brunch.

So there's caramelised onion sausages, a fried duck egg, some beans and a few has browns. There's also a piece of bacon chop that I found in the freezer.

It was lovely... aside from the bacon chop... which had a distinct funny taste to it. It wasn't off, it had been vacuum sealed in a bag and frozen whilst fresh... I think it was a bad batch, and if I recall correctly... it was part of a larger pack that we'd found unpalatable months ago after we'd divided the pack up and froze some of it. We've not actually bought any of the stuff again.

So a 9/10 because of the bacon... and to be honest, it was more than enough without it. Neither of us ate more than a mouthful or two of it.

Yesterday's old broad slow cooker meal was legendary. Ima do that over and over again.

One package of chunks of half price stewing beef.
Coat in the appropriate Mexican seasoning.
One 500 ml jar of home-canned salsa with corn.
One small 250 ml jar of tomatoes.

Fork flake the beef and stir everything all together when it's done.

Put on corn tortillas with cheese and lettuce from the garden. (And then when I ran out of the garden lettuce just clamshell lettuce.)

One of the best decisions I've made.

OK. So I started simple. 160°C, 6:30 min, perfect soft-boiled breakfast eggs. That's a good start :) #Nomnomnom

#BadPicsOfFood as we were out and about, we stopped for lunch at a hotel overlooking a harbour and marina. Typically, I had the seat with my back to the view so my mum could have the good one... But the garden I was looking out at from the 'conservatory' area of the restaurant was very nice too.

As for the food, it gets a thumbs up from me.

Mum had a turkey, ham and vegetable pie, baby roasted potatoes and onions in rosemary, some peas and carrots. The pie was huge and filled to the brim.

I had some sticky honey and mustard sausages, and some welsh cheese covered chips... and the sticky sausages were delish.

The prices were reasonable as well. The meal for two, along with a large orange juice and lemonade, and a J20 drink was only £37.

We are spoiled for choice in this area... Almost anywhere you go with 30 miles or more, will have plenty of locally run cafes and eateries and there are hotels, restaurants and take away joints all over the place. Good food at reasonable prices everywhere you go, and often with a stunning view to look at whilst you eat.

Verwandlung von eingekauftem Rohmaterial in Essbares. Das Pils von der Brauerei in St Martin en haut durchaus trinkbar und die Äärdbären vom regionalen Producteur süß und reif. @Ludwig_Loewe testet, was die Köchys Manni, Snoopy und Woodstock gekocht haben.
