  1. No mention of her TV interview when she stated divorce is always the woman's fault. When the interviewer said 'but aren't you divorced?' she bristled and said 'that is different'.
Or more important, that every one of her romance novels has the heroine being forced (usually into a possessive kiss), resisting briefly, then being overcome by his love.
She persuaded young people that no means yes.

Yes, what part of “no means no” is hard to understand?
Starting to think these MPs are corrupt & have been bribed to act against our interests.
    How else to explain it?

  5. A friend in BC sent this photo my way today. WRONG Lager brewed by John Wright of NoMeansNo. I don't drink alcohol, but I'd definitely scoop this up given the chance!

  6. @icastico Fantastic band! I saw them with three different line ups over the years--though the Andy Kerr period was easily my favourite. Jon Wright's current band Dead Bob are really worth checking out live. This video from a hometown show is a couple of years old and--dare I say--doesn't quite do them justice as a live force these days.

  8. DEAD BOB (CAN, JOHN WRIGHT // NO MEANS NO) + SUPPORT TBA

“NothinG Chances Everything Tour ’26”! – DEAD BOB (CA, JOHN WRIGHT // NO MEANS NO) + SUPPORT TBA

Dead Bob is the solo incarnation of John Wright, drummer of long time and apparently legendary, but now retired, Canadian punk band No Means No (NMN). Wright has spent 50 years drumming, 45 years songwriting, 30 years touring, three years helping robots play punk rock, 30 years brewing, and a lifetime playing music – in more bands than you can count on one hand.

Currently practising drums, working on the next two albums and having a beer, Wright is not planning on slowing down any time soon. The material on “Life Like” spans decades and there’s lots more in the vault. The album was recorded and produced by Wright in the wilds of British Columbia and while he primarily wrote and performed it himself, he can’t take all of the credit, having engaged the help of several friends inclding Byron Slack (Invasives), Kristy Lee Audette (Rong), Ford Pier (Ford Pier and the Vengeance Trio, DOA, Roots Round up, Junior Gone Wild, Rheostatics), Selina Martin, his son Aidan Wright, as well as two old collaborations with his brother Rob in the writer’s chair.

As might be expected, the songs roll out cohesively but defy the cookie cutter pigeon holes, hence “Genre” is a tough one to convey but one thing that is not unclear is it is not to be listened to quietly! We aim to make sure you hear it all good and loud!

Presale/door prices adjusted: our events are set up by volunteers in favour of supporting DIY touring acts, but it is getting ever more risky to plan and book events – please support the community and buy your tickets early! Presale closes 18.00 on day of the show.

  12. listening the songs in loop the whole time, this reminds me so much of the very first work of #nomeansNo (Mama, at least the drum & bass parts) which also happen to be Canadian!

Wouldn't be surprised if they were inspired by them

EDIT: wow, and they are brothers too... how much of a coincidence is that????

  15. NOMEANSNO
    Sex Mad
    2025 U.S. reissue
    Pink Opaque vinyl

Some legendary Canadian #punk all up in your face.

I’m glad they started to reissue these records again, particularly Sex Mad, my favorite.

This legendary band originated just a short 90 minute drive from where I live on Vancouver Island in the great city of Victoria, British Columbia.

This was their first OFFICIAL album of theirs, released in 1986, FOUR whole years after their self-released (and very EXPENSIVE & hard to find) album Mama.

With dark and complex song structures and biting, super-intelligent lyrics, they could be every bit as much jazz as they could punk or metal.

The guitar sound on Sex Mad is incredible, but newcomers beware of the second side. It can sound a bit tedious to new ears if you’re not fully educated in all things Wright brothers. 😂

    Killer album, regardless.

  16. MR. WRONG
    Mr. Wrong Fights The System
    1993 Canada 7” single

Fans of the legendary Canadian punk band Nomeansno will recognize this gem!

Mr. Wrong is Nomeansno bassist and singer Rob Wright.

On this single, these two songs are just Wright’s bass and voice, and nothing else.

This version of “State Of Grace” is fucking killer!!! It’s a song that Nomeansno would go on to perform on their 1995 album The Worldhood Of The World (As Such). I much prefer THIS version. It’s just absolutely savage.

The flip side is Wright’s take on the classic Skeeter Davis song “The End Of The World”.

Apparently, this single never had distribution in any record stores. It was solely released independently by the band.

    A fucking fantastic single.

"Oh hi! We figured power options are so overrated, who really ever needs them anyway right? You know what would be a much better use of that clunky old power button? Opening your brand new A.I. assistant; GEMINI! The one you already opted out of. We took the liberty to opt you back in and created this shortcut for you, you're welcome!"

  18. A message Donald Trump doesn't seem to get when people say no to him is perfectly explained in this excerpt featuring Verucca Salt. I can't help but wonder if Trump's attitude to being told no applies to his encounters with young women?

  19. What is it about men in positions of power who won't take NO for an answer? Whether it's Trump inviting himself into teenage dressing rooms, or whatever nastiness he got up to on Epstein Island, or his unwanted advances towards Greenland, NO still means NO.

  20. I’m keen to find some more #punk folk on here but realise the word means so many different things to people. So was wondering what punk #music means the most to you? Who are the #bands that you come back to time and time again?

For me I’m forever marked by the childhood induction into the scene through a holy trinity (to me) of #DeadKennedys #BadReligion and #GreenDay that gave me an enduring love for political, thoughtful, but melodic and harmony-strewn music with a good dose of introspective personal stuff thrown in for good measure.

Becoming a punk in the mid-90s, of course #NoUseForAName, #BouncingSouls, #Rancid, #Descendents, #Lagwagon, #Nofx, #Propagandhi, etc. became the soundtrack, but I also had #NoMeansNo, #BlackFlag, #SNFU, #TheClash, #Subhumans, #CitizenFish, #ActiveMinds, #Crass, #OiPolloi, #MinorThreat #Ramones and the local bands on the #Birmingham and UK scene to broaden my tastes. Had a big pop-punk love affair after touring Italy with #TheManges and #StinkingPolecats which led to inevitable obsessions with all things #LookoutRecords (#MTX, #ScreechingWeasel, etc.) and all those influences still stick with me today (even if some of the lyrics and songs - and band members - occasionally need some disavowing!).

    More recent bands I love include #Idles, #TheWonderYears, #TheBobbyLees, #Pup, #MobinaGalore, #Pears, #WarOnWomen, #TheHomelessGospelChoir, #TheMuslims (band), #RottenMind, #BadCopBadCop, #TheVenemousPinks, #TheLindaLindas, #AntiFlag, #JeffRosenstock, etc…

Who else should I be listening to?
