What's still *not* working perfectly is multimonitor handling (with a different ICC profile for each monitor). #Rawtherapee kind of handles that by offering an always-visible ICC profile select field. Other applications, like #digiKam, #nomacs and #Gwenview, are color managed but (at least on Ubuntu 24 with X11) either (1) always use the primary display's ICC profile or (2) require diving in the menus to set it.

Nomacs ImageLounge (open source, multi platform), is a perfect replacement for irfanview (Windows only): Easy image manipulation, batch processing, slideshows.
Anyhow it is not as well know and as widespread as it deserves.
Can you help completing the translation for your nativ language? Or spread this in your language's community?
If you are a developer and looking for an interesting project: Nomacs is looking for support.

For the curious it has been reset to my default image viewer that has the extraordinary feature of starting and being interactive even when opening a directory with more that say 25 image files. #NoMacs

@calvato Such trotzdem mal nach #Nomacs. Nicht so fett wie Gimp, aber mit zeitgemäßem UI und vielen Features.

@risa_spirelli - #nomacs is a nice simple image viewer and editor that is good for use cases like this. Development apparently stopped a couple of years ago, but it's still in repositories.

I decided to go with Shotwell for the time being instead of installing Nomacs as a Flatpak. Seems to do what I need (although I prefer Nomacs). I could not figure out how to change the size of the images though. Looked it up. You can only change size when saving? Weird. It works in the end...

I use(d) Nomacs as my image viewer. It suddenly wouldn't open photos anymore. Tried reinstalling from AUR and it won't install. Apparently I'm not the only one with the issue. The search for a replacement begins...

@kobi_lacroix not sure if I understood your use-case right, but a resizable frameless/windowless view is a feature you could find in e.g. #Nomacs image viewer
https://alternativeto.net/software/nomacs/about/It's #floss and available for win+gnu/linux. In addition, you might wanna check out #qview and #qimgview

Nomacs is no amazingly good.
I can't believe how people on Windows don't use it but instead use Infranview or, god forbid, the windows' image viewer. -
