Took my Little Women into town today for Little Christmas and to give my wife some me-time this Nollaig na mBan. Dropped into the National Museum before the playground. Perfect weather and a nice way to end the 12 Days.

As well as #NollaignamBan the 6th January is notable in Ireland as the anniversary of the Night of the #BigWind, Oíche na Gaoithe Móire, in 1839, which caused mass destruction of life and property. When pensions were introduced, memories of the night were used to help determine who qualified.
It is also the date on which the events of #JamesJoyce ’s short story "The Dead" from "Dubliners" (1914) takes place.

Little Christmas, January 6th, is also called Women's Christmas (Irish: Nollaig na mBan), and sometimes Women's Little Christmas.
