  1. Since the weather has been so cool and wil be that way for another week or so. Put down more clover seed in bare spots in the front yard.

The existing patches are doing really well, mixing in with the turf. Excited to see more.

  11. Ordering some more clover. Every bare spot in the yard is soon to be more clover. Can’t wait for it to more fully take over.

Keep trying Blue Grama but so far no joy.

  25. Stuff thats growing in our 'lawn replacement' area after 2 years; the photo series nobody asked for. (1 of 9)

I haven't seen much about how people realitically go with 'lawn replacement' mid-longer term, let alone in brisbane so...

Note we've had plenty of rain and generally let plants fight it out for dominance. This area never really had lawn. 3 years ago there was a freestanding (trip hazard) deck, concrete tiles, astroturf and and a sickly tree.

  35. My wife and I have started the large task of getting rid of the lawn in our back yard and replacing it with native plants! Tilling chunks at a time. Put some coneflowers in, and some Joe Pye Weed going in next!

  40. If you want to say goodbye to your days of pushing a lawnmower, there are lots of possibilities. You can sow a meadow of wildflowers, rewild the space with native plants or refashion your yard into a fruit and vegetable garden.

But before you can turn your dreams into action, you’ll need to remove your grass. Here’s a rundown of five common DIY paths you can take, which you can also mix-and-match to suit different areas around your home.

    I feel your frustration,
I wish the #nativeplants community would offer opinionated solutions for civilians who want to convert to #nolawn .

I dearly wanted to #rewild our 1/2 acre lawn and gave up after a year of research and a $60k quote from a landscape architect.

The closest I could find to DIY instructions is the recent book Prairie Up and some sub Reddits (which I dropped post enshittification).
And their only practical advice was to start by
