  1. CW: LP cover depicting surgical procedure on a brain

Since I didn't go out to see a horror movie this evening, let's listen to some dark and disturbing synth instrumentals instead.

Partly inspired by the #Noisextra podcast, which usually features an Atrax Morgue and horror episode for Halloween, but seems to have gone on a long break.

  2. Ultra - Sportfucking With Traci Lords

This might be the most bizarre, fucked-up "song" I've ever heard. Fantastic!

For more information, I recommend the Noisextra episode about the "Youthful Pleasures" album.

  3. #NowPlaying In this episode of #Noisextra, Ross Snyder of Saturn’s Core discusses his obsession with #SOV aka shot-on-video, homemade movies from the 90s. Home dubbed tapes, zines, mail order, and regional scenes all come into play. noisextra.com/2024/08/21/in-co

  4. #NowPlaying Join #Noisextra for an incredible discussion with Iggor Cavalera as they go into his history starting #Sepultura as a 13 year old in Brazil, to playing with #Boredoms in Japan, collaborating with #Prurient and #PowerTrip, his current noise explorations, and tons more. noisextra.com/2024/05/22/in-co

  5. Remembering that GX Jupitter-Larsen talked about that the weather channel was his favorite TV channel on the #Noisextra podcast, I noticed the tape "Two Television Oriented Guys", in collaboration #AMK, on Discogs. And as luck would have it, somebody uploaded it to the Internet Archive. It's mostly layers of TV recordings, repetitive noise in the background, and some manipulated spoken word (Or at least I think so).

  6. #NowPlaying ❝We didn’t talk about what we were going to do on any of the shows we ever did. Only thing we had was that we knew how much longer we wanted to do it. We had an old darkroom timer that literally would turn off our equipment when the time came.❞

Dave and Greg, the duo known as #TheHearingTrumpet provide a fascinating history of 80s and 90s noise in Michigan on #Noisextra. noisextra.com/2024/02/21/in-co

  7. #JephJerman 🧵 1/3:

❝In 1986 I began recording and performing under the name #HandsTo. Most of the early soundwork was sampler and tape loop based, though over the course of ten years it evolved into using environmental recordings with very little to no manipulation or electronic processing.❞

  8. #NowPlaying For this episode of #Noisextra #LasseMarhaug talks about his history of tape trading metal and grindcore as a teenager living above the Arctic Circle in Norway, to eventually stumbling upon noise, tape experiments, collaborations, doing a zine, and running record labels. noisextra.com/2023/10/11/in-co

  9. #NowPlaying #ThrobbingGristle First in a series of 4 videos about the #TG24 box set of live tapes. She did a superb deep dive into #ZeroKama last year which I felt complemented #Noisextra’s interview with #ZoeDeWitt. youtube.com/watch?v=eocle2E96p

  10. #NowPlaying #IllusionOfSafety is one of the longest running projects in the industrial noise underground, and Dan Burke was cool enough to go over his entire history. From seeing the final #ThrobbingGristle show in San Francisco, to creating the IOS world with all its collaborators, Dan has stories and insight for days. It’s another mandatory history lesson on #Noisextra. noisextra.com/2023/08/16/in-co

  11. #NowPlaying New #Noisextra episode with James Keeler of #Wilt, celebrating 25 years in the underground. He goes into his early days in rural Illinois, the beginnings of Wilt, putting together the classic “Radio 1940,” and plenty more. noisextra.com/2023/08/09/in-co

  12. #NowPlaying #DrewMcDowall sat down with #Noisextra for a long candid discussion covering his entire history. For this first of two episodes, Drew tells about his beginnings in the 70s to falling in with #PsychicTV and eventually #Coil. It’s an incredible first hand account of the early industrial days. noisextra.com/2023/07/12/in-co

  13. #NowPlaying Catching up with #Noisextra episodes. James G. Thirlwell (Foetus, Wiseblood, Steroid Maximus, Xordox) has worked with everyone from Steven Stapleton and Coil, to scoring “The Venture Brothers” and “Archer” TV shows. noisextra.com/2022/11/02/in-co

  14. If you enjoyed the #Noisextra interview with Erik Hoffman, don’t miss #KFJC presents Ground Fault Excavation on Tuesday, Mayhem 23rd at 10am. DJ Abacus Finch takes a deep dive into the hugely influential releases from Ground Fault Recordings. Series 1, 2, and 3 outlined a vast variety of sound within the #Noise genre ranging descriptively under simple umbrellas of "quiet", "medium", and "loud".
