Jay Dratler’s The Pitfall, written 1947, is a nicely twisted noir tale. A cop persuades a writer to romance a girl, but the cop wants the girl himself. Characters driven by madness and sexual obsession and the hero has no idea what's going on.

Fletcher Flora’s 1958 novel Park Avenue Tramp takes a classic noir setup with emotional intrigues, betrayals and infidelities that he develops in unexpected ways with some twisted characters. Truly a neglected gem by an underrated writer.
