It would be great to build something like these here in #NewBrunswick to help prevent further loss of life this cold season.
It would be a fantastic project with the #SJTL (Saint John Tool Library) - a community pitch-in project.
Over 184 human beings will sleep outside in -12c windchill tonight, in my city of 65K, while #cops clear out #Higgsville encampments. We need life-saving measures yesterday.

For as long as I've been alive and longer, large industries like #irvingOil, #jdIrving, #repsol and others have paid - and I'm not overstating this - a penny on the dollar of their fair share.
Our politicians have signed **incredibly** generous 25 or 50 year contracts, absolving over a billion in taxes.
We have the highest child poverty, teen pregnancy, and sexual assault rates in the country.
Maybe it's time we balance the scales a little. Maybe we should tip them *a lot* and get back some of what we've lost. Build homes, feed kids, clean pollution, improve schools...

In civilised countries, we have #universalBasicIncome, #harmReduction, #housingFirst.
In #NewBrunswick we have a brand-new jail being built that we didn't need, and now a new law to arrest anyone at anytime suspected of #tresspass outside of a business.
