04-Feb : Most memorable sidekick?I think a sidekick is someone who is by your side supporting you, even if you don't want or like it.
Of the 2024 dramas, I thought Nam Ja Yeon (Han Ji Hyun) in "No Gain, No Love" was a great sidekick for Son Hae Yeong (Shin Min Ah). She provided a family, a voice of reason, & made Son Hae Yeong realize things about her life. And she had her own great story line too.

My 1st entry for the Asian Drama Lunie Awards 2025:29-Jan: Funniest Scene?
Although there were many, many funny scenes in "No Gain No Love," the 2 with the gift box of items from around the world (the discovery of the box, & the contents of the box being used for self-defense) had me in tears from laughing so hard (Star Wars!!)
I guess different streamers censored the contents in various ways - from blurring them to adding sombreros & the dialogue varied somewhat, but overall, hilarious!

I remembered what they were, but did not know they lit up & then the star wars stuff - I was truly dying - it was so funny. My eyes are tearing up again right now just thinking about it & I can't help giggling aloud. My family already thinks I'm nuts & this isn't helping....
The ending today was just perfect!

"No Gain, No Love" episode 11 goes above & beyond to deliver entertainment!!
I laughed so hard I cried & then cried so hard I needed tissues.
If you saw it, you know what I mean, that has to be one of the funniest scenes in kDrama with just such exquisite balance between the comedy & the tragedy!
So sad that there is only 1 more episode!! Unless they royally screw up the last episode (which I can't imagine) this is going to be one of my all time favorites.

And I can't figure out how to get a TVing account with a US payment method. 😭
I do agree that "No Gain, No Love" is one of the best this year. Its use of sound effects is so perfect - just one of the things I love about it.
I would watch "No Gain, No Love" before the spinoff because then you'll have an intro to the characters in "SpiceUpOurLove"

LOLed at at so many scenes -
The repeat of the bed scene - that will go down as a classic trope twist.when Mr. Bok & Ms. Yeon are running and he falls behind - it went from so romantic to so hilarious so perfectly.
The world traveler box.
The tiger underwear.
The kimbap eating.
"We're brothers"
Also loved the "is this real" scenes - so well done
& the color coordinated alcohol at the party - so pretty.
I am so sad that there are only going to be 12 episodes.

I think there are a lot of references to other dramas. I need to watch again & pay more attention.
So far, I've seen the Mom & her secretary from "Strong Girl, Namsoon" (both the director & screenwriter did Namsoon) and the museum director & her secretary from "Her Private Life."
Byeon Woo Seok also had a cameo - but not as a previous drama character. In the cast list, the guest role list is huge.I am not good at recognizing music, but I'll have to try to listen more carefully too.

So good!! Loved the "Her Private Life" crossover character. And the switch up on the get drunk / wake up in bed together scene was hilarious!
I think that Ji Uk promised her mom that he would look after her, that's why he was working nearby. I do think his dinner confession was probably close to the truth though (& that's why he bought the ring). I also think a promise to Mom is why Ja Yeon lives with her. The other friend told her to move out in an earlier episode.
Also, I think her Mom & Dad did the foster thing so that she would have a big family. The people around her are all former foster kids. She doesn't seem to have aunts or uncles, so she's all alone without her foster family members.
And chairman definitely has to be his Dad after asking all those questions at dinner - but it did seem to make mom suspicious.

Oh definitely, from one of the early episodes where the mom is wondering if Bok Gyu Hyun is really safe as the heir, I suspected Ji Uk was the illegitimate son.
I didn't think the dad knew about him though - just thought he had sent the mom to Canada.

In episode 4 of "No Gain, No Love," did anyone else notice the envelope of $2 US bills as a gift?
I was wondering why someone would give US money, let alone $2 bills (which are not used in the US).
I found this article about how the $2 bill is viewed as a good luck charm in S. Korea since Grace Kelly supposedly received one from Frank Sinatra.

He's doing this all for her mother, because she's his foster mother, right? So they did know each other as kids!
I'm really enjoying this show & its fun, slightly more adult than usual, themes in a 15+ rated show.
Loved her yelling at her boyfriend in the convenience store about their sex life & the friend writing some racy fiction. Now that the CEO has read it, I don't think he can ever go back. It will haunt him!

The checking for cat allergies scene had great chemistry.
I know there have been some people talking about the age gap, but it's not at all apparent to me.

#kDrama Currently Airing Hell Update
-- Romance in the House: still enjoying with 6 / 1 2 episodes out. The mystery of how one of the characters made money keeps things interesting while we watch the relationships develop.
-- Love Next Door: With 4 / 16 episodes out, Jung So Min still is fabulous & Jung Hae In is definitely growing on me.
-- DNA Lover: tried eps 3 today & gave up. I'll wait for someone else to tell me if it's worth it to go back.
-- Cinderella at 2 am: Moon Sang Min has definitely improved. This one I think might be surprising. It is so cute & sweet, but the end of eps 2 throws in some trauma that I didn't expect. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
-- No Gain, No Love: The 1st episode was fantastic - so funny. Eps 2 comes out tomorrow & I'm looking forward to it.
