  1. CW: Picture contains a slow-worm (snake-like reptile) - it is very beautiful and friendly though! 🦎

I came across a slow-worm today in my garden and the joy it gives me, to know they are living in my garden cannot be put into words 🥰 You know you're doing a good job, when your garden includes reptile habitat 🌟 I'm including a picture, but am putting it behind a content warning since snake-like creatures can cause distress for some.

Slow-worms are no worms, they are leg-less lizards, if you didn't know - they look a lot like snakes but actually belong to a different group of reptiles.

  2. Spent many hours in the garden today, weeding my strawberry patch, planting onions sets and watering my garlic. Every time I go to work on my veggie patch, I discover a new reason why I love gardening. Today I was reflecting on how growing plants requires me to be radically hopeful and to trust that there will be a tomorrow, one that I care about and one I want to make better. At the same time, gardening teaches resilience and humility. Not everything will work out, not every seed will sprout. But then we gardeners don't just quit - we and our plants just try again next year 🌱

It's a mix of total commitment and unconditional love - but also the ability to let go, to not become overly attached and accept that you can't control everything.

  3. Something that I have been missing here is my smallholder friends. They don’t seem ready to switch to a new platform.

So, today I started searching for #gardening #NoDigGardening #smallholders or anything related to growing food and living lightly on the planet. The experience has been cathartic.
