I've been observing noctilucent clouds for ~30 years. This was one of the brightest I've seen in that time.
As the lower atmosphere warms, the middle atmosphere where NLC form (~82km) gets colder. NLC are found to be getting progressively brighter as a result and have long been said to be the 'canary in the coal mine' of climate change.
