Something I appreciate about #bifl or #buyforlife mentality, is that "shopping" has a certain background anxiety in it which became obvious only after becoming a much calmer person.
There is anxiety motivating one to buy products, anxiety motivating one to not buy in case of regret, anxiety about finding the perfect product, sustainability anxiety etc.
Being less dependent on stuff and buying stuff that lasts means the less I have to go through the grind of shopping again.

Well, saving money is a good reason for #NoBuy practices. But even better -- keeping things out of the landfills! This is a trend we ALL need to see more of! For whatever reason one chooses not to buy, I'm glad to see it catching on!

I've been working on a sort of hand quilting #upcycle project. I've got this pair of pants that are stretched out and the seams coming undone (they are second hand low quality fast fashion made of thin jersey blend fabric), so already well beyond their intended lifespan). I mostly like the fit of them though and I've been wanting to practice #quilting and #slowstitching. #sewing #fiberarts #crafting
part of this is also having been influenced by watching #nobuy/#lowbuy youtube videos recently and thus wanting to reclaim what would otherwise be trash. sewing down the whole of each piece of fabric like this (rather than say, just the edges) by hand is slow going lol -

My work bag has had a couple of holes in it and I've been thinking of asking work for a new one. But decided on fixing it intead. I'm not in a strict #nobuy (and wouldn't be buying this anyway if I got it for work) but I'm for sure influenced by the nobuy mindset I get from when ever I do go for a month from time to time.
Always a great feeling when you first think you need something new but then realise you can actually #mend the old.

I kept a list of items that I stopped myself from buying because of the challenge, and there are over 12 things, most of which sound kind of dumb. I'm still interested in only 2 of them. Other than that, I bought 6 items and surprised myself with the justifications I made, like "I have to get something at Kohl's because my Kohl's cash expires January 31" It was still a useful experience and I plan on trying this again in the future. -
I hate to admit I bought something during my January #NoBuy #challenge I needed new filters for the dustbuster and I had not bought them before my challenge started in January. I will console myself by remembering that they last a pretty long time and I can't make them myself.

CW: No-buy year, I bought something and will do so again!
I bought something! Ink sample vials. Because the vials I got are not suitable for anything liquid.
I would have done so on December, but they were out of stock.Also, I finally gave up. Our little one just won't get a spot for a swimming class. We've tried to get one for years now. It's a desaster.
So we as parents have to teach them. But I only own skimpy old bathing clothes that make me feel very awkward. So I'll go and hunt for one that I'll actually like to wear.

I’ve had this lovely blue teapot for years. It is a possession I will take with me when I downsize and move across the country this summer. Originally it had a bamboo handle but that broke. There was some copper wire hanging around the house so I fashioned an alternative handle which I quite like.
I have been trying to live simply for years, but what this comes down to is intentionality. It’s a work in progress.
