TRM Labs released some analysis of the #Nobitex source code that was leaked by an Israeli team that hacked the company (Nobitex is the largest #cryptocurrency exchange in #Iran and probably the largest crypto exchange anywhere to take such an extreme approach to hiding its own tracks (and its users' tracks).

of course they also hardcoded a bunch of auth keys into the source code... so maybe they weren't *that* privacy focused. or maybe they decided to do some "outsourcing" of the dev team (lol).

Predatory Sparrow group previously hacked Iran’s state-owned Bank Sepah has also hacked Iran’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Nobitex and destroyed $90M. The stolen crypto included bitcoin, ethereum, doge, ripple, solana, tron, and ton.

The funds were drained from platform wallets into addresses bearing anti-government messages explicitly referencing Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and were burner wallets — strongly suggesting the money was intentionally destroyed, not stolen for profit.

@neurovagrant @molly0xfff btw there's a lot of on chain evidence that suggests that #nobitex is mostly a front end for binance... this is something i did a seriously deep dive on a few years ago but never published, but either way a lot of txns from nobitex and other iranian exchanges seem to get forwarded to / executed on #binance.
