  1. Microsoft powered genocide.

Alon Haimovich ended his role following an internal investigation by #Microsoft's global management into the local branch's work with the Israeli defense establishment, out of concern that it violated the company's ethical code. Several managers from the government department also departed alongside him. Microsoft #Israel was left without a CEO, and Globes learned that management decided that for now it will be run directly by Microsoft France

[...] Unlike the Project Nimbus franchisees Google and Amazon — Microsoft did not agree to the broad uses that Israel's defense establishment makes of its systems, in Israel or other countries — such as collecting information on users and using that information to harm those involved in terrorism.

[...] In September 2025, global Microsoft decided to unilaterally terminate Unit 8200's usage agreement with Military Intelligence, following an article published in the British Guardian newspaper, in which it was claimed that the unit collects information on Palestinians for the purpose of the war on terror. But 8200 was apparently only the tip of the iceberg, and following the investigation and the protest that erupted in its wake, Microsoft's offices in Redmond, Washington continued to examine the conduct of additional units on the platform in relation to the CEO of Israeli operations, Haimovich, and his team.

[...] The investigation revealed not only usage patterns that the company claims violate Microsoft's terms, but also conduct that they claim was not transparent toward global management — in a way that damaged its trust in the Israeli branch's management, and in a way that breached the defense establishment's trust in working with Microsoft, according to a source in the software market familiar with the affair.

[...] Microsoft Israel, which until now was subordinate to the regional management in Dubai, has now been transferred to operate under the responsibility of Microsoft France — and this, as stated, until a permanent CEO is appointed for Microsoft Israel.

Eko, citing Microsoft whistleblowers, alleged that "the company rapidly offloaded vast quantities of illegally captured surveillance data after a Guardian investigation."

The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) filed a complaint with Ireland's Data Protection Commission, with executive director Joe O'Brien stating "These are not abstract data-protection failures — they are violations that have enabled real-world violence."

  3. The Nimbus deal with Israeli army is something where Azure reportedly lost in the competition with GCP and AWS. Because they didn't appear to the contractual clauses demanded by Israel.

The Guardian reports how these providers even agreed to a secret "wink" to let the Israeli army know if a court order caused their data to be compromised. This was to be done via a specific payment amount that also would reveal which country's court had subpoenad the data.

  6. A bit of good news, thanks to the journalists who investigated and reported on this, the Microsoft employees who lead the No Azure For Apartheid movement (and lost they're jobs for it), and all the other activists who protested against Microsoft's complicity!

No fucking way Microsoft would have canned a lucrative contract on it's own without pressure

  11. Three facts about Microsoft:

Microsoft recently had it's A.I. division take over Github.

    Microsoft also owns npm.

Microsoft also hosts over 11 thousand terabytes of Israeli military data on it's Azure servers collected from the mass surveillance of Palestinians, which the Israeli military uses to blackmail people, hold them in captivity, and justify killing them after the fact.

"Unit 8200 sources said intelligence drawn from the enormous repositories of phone calls held in Azure had been used to research and identify bombing targets in Gaza ... the information stored in Azure amounted to a rich repository of intelligence about its population that some in the unit claimed had been used to blackmail people, place them in detention, or even justify their killing after the fact"

  15. Microsoft's complicity in apartheid and genocide is already well documented at this point, but more and more details and damning evidence of they're close relationship with Israeli forces continues to surface.

  16. #Microsoft fires employees who organized #vigil for #Palestinians killed in #Gaza

    By MATT O’BRIEN
    Updated 11:19 PM EDT, October 25, 2024

"Microsoft has fired two employees who organized an unauthorized vigil at the company’s headquarters for Palestinians killed in Gaza during #Israel’s war with Hamas.

"The two employees told The Associated Press they were fired by phone call late Thursday, several hours after a lunchtime event they organized at Microsoft’s campus in Redmond, Washington.

"Both workers were members of a coalition of employees called '#NoAzureForApartheid' that has opposed Microsoft’s sale of its cloud-computing technology to the #IsraeliGovernment. But they contended that Thursday’s event was similar to other Microsoft-sanctioned employee giving campaigns for people in need.

"'We have so many community members within Microsoft who have lost family, lost friends or loved ones,' said #AbdoMohamed, a researcher and data scientist. 'But Microsoft really failed to have the space for us where we can come together and share our grief and honor the memories of people who can no longer speak for themselves.'"
