  1. Continuing my journey to process images from data captured a year ago. This data captured late 2024 and January 2025.

In the upper right corner of the widefield view is #GlobularCluster NGC2419 (#Caldwell 25) - the "Intergalactic Wanderer". So called because it is well outside the Milky Way - it was perhaps yeeted out!

In the lower left corner is a small galaxy PGC21517. Surprised it does not have an NGC/IC designation (that I can find).

  2. Wasn't supposed to be clear last night but the skies must have opened up for a little while at least. #GlobalMeteorNetwork camera picked up 26 (plus 11 sporadics).

    PER (Perseids) - 3
    PCA (psi-Cassiopeiids) - 2
    CAP (Capricornids) - 1
SDA (South Delta Aquarids) - 9
    Sporadics - 11

  3. Another glorious clear and dark night sky at #TerraNovaNP #DarkSkyPreserve on Wednesday. The park still has work to do addressing #LightPollution within the #campground, but I managed to find some shadows to capture these images from.

Second image is looking up at Cygnus, the #MilkyWay and some red nebulae. Captured with a 50mm lens and the venerable Canon 6D (modified).

  4. The #Orionid #meteor shower peaked on Saturday 21st but unfortunately I was clouded out. πŸ™„

But on the 19th my #GMN Global Meteor Network cameras still managed to pick up a few Orionids (almost 100 between the 2 cams).

Also picked up a few meteors from other showers including: Epsilon Geminids
    Leonis Minorids
    Chi Taurids
    Southern Taurids.

It is a relatively busy time of year for meteor showers.
