That was a very emotional #NLL Final.
I am done with watching sports today. And actually, all these Finals are just tuckering me out.
But to close all this out, support your local #lacrosse team! It’s a great sport. The athletes put so much on the line for not a whole lot of pay. And it’s a great community built upon the oldest sport in North America—invented by indigenous peoples, who are still the heart and soul of the game.

Halifax fought hard. It was a Cinderella story. But Toronto proved their mettle winning the series 2-0.

Half-time.
2nd quarter was a rollercoaster. Lots of back and forth momentum. Halifax waged a comeback and had a two goal lead. Then a double penalty to Halifax resulted in four straight goals for Toronto..
Anything can happen in this game.

Toronto Rock just made the mother of all comebacks to win!
Arena was electric. What a game #lacrosse is. This should be a popular game, and the people in the know have been in for a treat.
Second game is in Halifax. Toronto is one game away from winning the championship.

Somehow, Toronto has come back. This is what I love about #lacrosse. No lead is safe. You can get a sudden flurry of goals. And now it’s anyone’s game.

This is a really good game. Lots of back and forth action. Any team can win. A nice mix of grit and finesse.
Looked like Thunderbirds would come away, but the Rock are roaring back.

It’s an all-Canadian showdown between the Toronto Rock and the Halifax Thunderbirds.
Toronto is going for their 7th NLL championship—the most of any team ever. Meanwhile, Halifax is trying for their first championship in any pro sport.

Western Lacrosse Association season is starting up in five days.
While technically an “amateur” league, it’s full of players from the #NLL.
Since, due to the World Cup, neither the Whitecaps nor the Lions are playing in Vancouver, this might be a great opportunity to check out our local #lacrosse league—which has seven teams in Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island.
Tickets are incredibly cheap. It’s only $15 to check out a Burnaby Lakers game.

Don’t be sleeping on the #NLL Finals!
It’s been 11 years since the Finals have been all-Canadian. But this time, it’s the Toronto Rock vs. the Halifax Thunderbirds.
Toronto hasn’t had an NLL championship since 2011. If they win, it will be their 7th championship—making them the winningest team in NLL history.
Interestingly, the Rock haven’t been playing in Toronto recently. Their regular venue is being renovated so they’re playing out of Hamilton. And if the team wins, perhaps Hamilton might some day get an NLL franchise.
But a win for Halifax would be an even bigger deal. Halifax has never won a championship in any pro sport. Sure, the Mooseheads won a Memorial Cup back in 2013. That’s a huge deal. But that’s junior hockey, not a major league featuring fully grown men.
This would be a big deal for the Maritimes, cementing the region as fully deserving of major league sports teams.

That was a wild finish!
Within 2 minutes, 4 goals were scored—and 1 goal was disallowed. Things almost came to fisticuffs at the end.
But Toronto wins this, and it was a tight finish.

Now at the second half of the #NLL semifinal between Toronto and San Diego.
As I said, no lead is safe. It’s now a dead tie.
But Toronto just made a boneheaded move with an illegal bodycheck to the head—which has resulted in a 5 minute major penalty. They still have 3:53 left in the penalty, and Toronto is lucky that San Diego hasn’t scored.
This game is getting intense.

In 20 minutes, I’ll be watching the Toronto Rock take on the San Diego Seals in the #NLL semifinals.
The Seals are coming off a very controversial overtime win based on a goal that should have been disallowed, which resulted in the refs being disciplined.
Meanwhile, the Rock are coming off an upset win.
Odds slightly favour San Diego. -
