Why did they make her this ditzy little bitch in the show! I loathed her so much.
In the novel she's a mysterious Jianghu fighter (wearing a human-face-mask to stay anonymous before the dramatic reveal), which is SO creepy and cool \:D/ and she's very cool and admirable and not an unlikable little goose at all!

Wha, one of the Xia disciples is actually Xia Dong's twin brother in the novel?!
a) I had thought it was just my face-blindness that the Nooklings looked very much alike - did they cast them like that to carry over this bit of "2 of them look super similar"? O_o
b) If their roles are the same as in the show it's gonna be extra harsh for poor Xia Dong with her actual twin being either a sadistic arsehole or an obedient yesman.

I like the novel version of the "Nihuang gets drugged" arc so much better because that drug doesn't just incapacitate the victim so she can get raped into marriage, but it makes HER horny and pursue the next best man in the vicinity, which is a more "understandable" social blunder than "being unconscious in mixed society". I don't get it why they changed it for the show.
