Nintendo has issued a warning today for people not to use the Pretendo Network as it may pose unexpected security risks.

This isn't really a big deal, but I'm sharing it over here to point out a few things since people seem to be a bit concerned whether this post will affect @pretendo or not.
- Nintendo has known about Pretendo since at least December 2023 so it isn't a new thing: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/1bejk7e/comment/kuuf06r/

With the recent shutdown of #NintendoNetwork, the main functionality of many #WiiU games, including #Splatoon1 and #SuperMarioMaker are completely unavailable if you're not modded to use @[email protected].
We need to stop this happening for future generations and right now, there's a petition on the parliament website to get this spoken about after Ubisoft discontinued an online only game. Please sign it if you're a UK resident to ensure that action is taken.

I was inkredibly lucky to be able to interview @[email protected] earlier, who is the last player known to be still connected to Nintendo Network servers playing Splatoon 1.
They are just one of 9 players who remain on Nintendo Network servers.

I heard that there are still some players online despite the servers being down, which as some posts I read pointed out, is a #XenobladeX reference. I think if I remember correctly, the #WiiU might use a peer-to-peer system like the #Wii, so it's just the main server that can't do connections anymore.

The time is up for online services for the #WiiU and #3DS consoles.
It is now April 9th at 1am BST, which means online services for both consoles are no longer available. This means you will be no longer able to splat anymore squids, challenge anyone to a Mario Kart race or even try to show off your bowling skills on official Nintendo servers on the #NintendoWiiU or #Nintendo3DS consoles.
To continue playing online services on both consoles, you will need to mod your consoles. Guides to do that are available on https://wiiu.hacks.guide and https://3ds.hacks.guide. After that, install @pretendo and follow the brilliant guides for installation for Wii U or 3DS. They cover everything you need to know about modding your console and getting Pretendo set up (I've helped add some commits to the Pretendo guide to make it easier to get started).

Managed to get an Articuno from the GTS as well. This concludes filling the national dex, sans a few events. I'm lacking Mew and (apparently) Diancie.

Reminder for anyone with a Wii U or 3DS that it is only 2 days until the Nintendo Network services shutdown.
If you have a 3DS or Wii U you should please consider archiving #Spotpass data before the shutdown date because all unarchived data will be gone forever.
(Even if you don't have a Wii U or 3DS please spread the word and boost this post for visibility)

Just submitted my 3DS's SpotPass dump, and I advise anyone else with a #3DS and/or #WiiU to dump their own #SpotPass data before April 8 as that's when #Nintendo will take all the #NintendoNetwork stuff offline. Working on getting my USB drive formatted at 32K FAT32 in ~~PowerShell~~ GUIFormat (PS didn't work-see below) to dump my Wii U data (doing all of it since I've been meaning to). Just to remind you all, we're playing the original Mario Kart 8 later today at 8:30pm GMT (in a private lobby, I'm not sure whether I can have both DLC Packs on, currently trying to find that out) and Splatoon 1 tomorrow at 8:30pm GMT (in a private lobby hopefully as well) as part of our #NintendoNetwork shutdown events.

Will be posting this on both Crossing Corner and Splatoon Unofficial just to provide information about all the #NintendoNetwork shutdown events we plan to hold and #Wiimmfi 10th anniversary events.
To participate, send me your friend codes before the event (on Discord or Matrix) starts if you're not currently friends with me and let me know whether you're interested in participating in an event. Events may be cancelled if there is no interest a day before the event.
