  1. Hey, battery nerds on mastodon. Don't mind a bear asking but do y'all cycle Ni-MH batteries? I know they're not Ni-Cd that has a "memory effect", but idk I feel like these batteries last better when cycled at least once.

Also what charger do you use for Ni-MH batteries? If you've got those fancy Li-ion/LiFePO4/Ni-MH battery chargers with adjustable charging currents, what mA do y'all set it on ?

Also an optional question, aside from eneloops and LADDA's (IKEA ni-mh batteries), what are some other reputable brands for Ni-MH batteries? Preferably reasonably priced. I don't got no income to spend on batteries yet so am looking for pretty affordable ones other than those two.

Idk, boosts are welcome but not really needed. I just wanna read at least one opinion or something but more would be definitely better. Thanks in advance.

Edit: just made CD in "Ni-Cd" to Cd up there. Nickel Compact Disc sounds funny

With all the technology we have, you still need to power down a device in order to have it's {lipo} batteries charged at relatively controllable temperatures.

That's the reason why removable batteries are a logical thing. That is also the reason why I do not understand from the perspective of fire safety, that volatile power units are permanently sealed in devices.

I have a few obsolete Android devices that are still perfectly usable, for lighter tasks. I refuse to pry them open in order to replace the volatile batteries which are charging at temperatures where the devices need to be shut down. A procedure I cannot do, because the power buttons and the logic integrated circuits behind them are broken. I need to use PPE in order to charge those things safely!

Luckily The European Union got fed up with this sealed battery phenomena and thanks to the Europeans we shall have normal battery separation again in our devices

Bereik 115km is voldoende. Of een natrium/zwavel accu.

Pas in 1996 kwam de GM EV1 met lood- en NiMH-accu en in 1997 Toyota RAV4 EV met NiMH-accu.

People recommending you manually use a CC/CV power supply are not helping you 😉

Good chargers will let you set what *type* of battery it is, and will correctly charge all major types. I've got a four-cell (four independent charging circuits) that will happily charge NiCad, Nickel Metal Hydride, LiFePO4, Lithium-ion polymer, and a few others. It mostly autodetects the correct type.

They're not stupidly expensive. The model I have is currently $37 Canadian from Amazon:

  35. I finally ordered a new digital camera.

I ordered the Kodak PixPro FZ45. It's a 16 megapixel "point-and-shoot" digital camera with 4x optical zoom and the ability to record 1080p video at 30 fps. The Kodak brand is used under license, Kodak did not manufacture it.

A requirement for any new digital camera I would purchase, the PixPro FZ45 uses AA #batteries, so my camera life cycle isn't dictated by some proprietary #battery. I'm fine with #NIMH rechargeable AAs.
