Unfortunately, my old 26" Nimbus muni is finally starting to show its age.
The hydraulic rim brakes are getting tired (and seem to confuse every local bike shop), 26×3" tires are getting harder to find, and I just snapped a spoke. Everything is repairable, but it felt like the right time to retire it to winter/backup duty and treat myself to an upgrade.
The unfortunate part? There really aren't many good options for Canadians anymore. Kris Holm still makes incredible unicycles (I absolutely love my KH36), but there isn't a Canadian dealer anymore, and U.S. shops generally won't ship them across the border.
(insert plea for someone to starting selling good unicycles in Canada again!)
So... if I'm already paying to ship a unicycle across an ocean, why not go all in and order a customized one from Italy!?
I ended up ordering a custom-anodized 27.5" from Mad4One (https://www.mad4one.com), and it finally arrived.
The fit and finish are fantastic, and having hydraulic disc brakes on a muni is a huge step up from the old rim brakes. It may just be the honeymoon phase talking, but the 27.5" also seems to roll over roots and rough sections a little more effortlessly than my old 26".
I've had it out a few times on the local trails and it's awesome. Looking forward to actually making out it to the mountains soon!

Wer mit dem Zug in den Zürcher Hauptbahnhof einfährt, kommt nicht daran vorbei: Gross und gut sichtbar prangt das Logo «Google Cloud» im vertrauten Konzernlayout an der von Glas dominierten Front des Bürogebäudes an der Europaallee neben dem Gleisfeld.
Es ist ein Bekenntnis des amerikanischen Technologiekonzerns dazu, wie bedeutend der Standort Zürich für den Aufbau grosser Rechenkapazitäten im Bereich der künstlichen Intelligenz geworden ist.
Mittlerweile steht #GoogleCloud in der Kritik: wegen des Projekts #Nimbus.
Gemeint ist damit der Rahmenvertrag der "freien" Nutzung von Google KI und Rechenzentren durch das israelische Militär in Gaza. Nach meiner ersten Recherche im September 2024 ist einiges passiert.
Und mittlerweile wissen wir mehr wie der Standort Zürich darin involviert ist...

Dieser #Besen ist ein Muss, er ist vielleicht nicht so sportlich wie so ein #Fantasie-Dingens namens #Nimbus-Irgendwas, hat aber einen manuellen #Abstandhalter und sieht natürlich um ein Vielfaches besser aus.Heute dicker #Nebel, werde später mal aufbrechen und die #Gegend erkunden. Habt ein wunderbares #Wochenende.
