  1. How Did I End Up Hosting Science Talks on a Tropical Island??

So… I somehow ended up helping host a science festival on a remote tropical island… and yeah, it was as wild as it sounds. 🌴

Welcome to Lord Howe Island Dark Skies Festival — where I ran nightscape photography courses, helped host the pub science talks (yes, actual science… in a pub), led the kids’ "Blast Off!" space class, explored the glowing light walk, visited the Lord Howe Island Distillery (because science needs gin), and spent every night imaging under some of the darkest skies on Earth.

Between the stargazing, science chaos, and way too many camera batteries, this was one of the most unexpectedly amazing trips I’ve been on.

Seriously… how did I end up here?

  6. On 5th September in #Wales, I also photographed the southern #MilkyWay. #Canon1100D 10-18mm lens, ISO-3200 25sec f/4.5. This is a stack of 29x25sec. It was so dark there! #NightscapePhotography

  11. 4 different versions of a 20 minute #StarTrails taken while we were on holiday in #NorthWales. This is #StTanwyg church, #Llandanwg, also called the "church in the sand" because it is nestled in the dunes. The skies there are very dark so I did some light painting on a couple of shots to create different versions. Canon 1100D 10mm wide angle lens, 25sec ISO-3200 f/4.5 for 20 mins. This beautiful little church really stole my heart #NightscapePhotography #Wales #StarStaX

  15. NEW VIDEO!! I have just published a video on You Tube, all about stacking #MilkyWay photos using #Sequator, including how to use the awesome "freeze foreground" feature. Feel free to share! youtu.be/KPeyi4hZgfg

  16. Southern #MilkyWay from North #Oxfordshire Sat 20th May 2023. Canon 1100D with 10-18mm lens,13 x 25sec at ISO-1600 f/4.5. Stacked using #Sequator which allows you to freeze the foreground. It was very hazy and I accidentally shot everything in jpeg (doh!) #MilkyWayPhotography #NightscapePhotography #UKMilkyWay

  17. #MilkyWay 6-paned panorama from North #Oxfordshire, UK Sat 20th May '23. Each pane was 5 x 25sec ISO-1600 f/4.5, stacked with #Sequator then stitched with #MicrosoftICE. It was very hazy, I accidently shot everything in jpeg + messed up the overlaps, so I'm happy with the result considering!
