Somewhat sad to read about the 12y outcomes of kids born <27w in Sweden: https://doi.org/10.1542/peds.2025-073742
I mean, we have this sense that neonatal care in Sweden is great (and it is good!) but the long-term outcomes are not good enough IMHO. And I guess our data is comparable to other well-resourced contexts.
Where can we improve?!

Activity is not high yet but I feel that #NeoMastodon could be one market square we currently miss. And the principal values from doing this ourselves are preferable to the values of alternatives IMHO

In case you didnt know, alprostadil/prostaglandin E formulations contain ethanol, and always use the 500 mcg/mL formulation.
We published this case report in @actapaed about an infant that got severely intoxicated by ethanol while waiting for corrective surgery, due to that a lower concentrated formulation was used.

Re the paracetamol <> autism paper, senior author Prof Brian Lee was recently interviewed by JAMA, a well-balanced discussion with one of their Deputy Editors.

We (ie @99nicu) started the #nicuverse server and have tried to get some #NeoTwitter colleagues to move over to a #neomastodon but few has made the move.

I still believe in #NeoTwitter as a principle but think we can create a more free and powerful #Nicuverse ourselves.

With the latest restrictions on Tw, #twittermigration might get a new push.

In my experience, and based on most cases of CLD, these infants benefit from fluid restriction (<150ml/kg/day), which typically leads to a reduction in oxygen requirements. I usually supplement nutrition by adding preterm formula or high-energy formula to the TFI. However, I'm wondering if there are other ways to increase the nutritional value of (MOM+F) without using formula milk. adding Proteins?
