When the cinematographer told the actress Renée Taylor to confine her performance to a narrow space, May told Taylor, “Don’t listen to him. You go wherever you want to go, you do whatever you want to do. And the camera will find you.” May rehearsed little, instead using the shoot as a vehicle for experimentation.”
