During '70s I saw LAPD murder a man on his front lawn. It was in Westwood, just a a few blocks from UCLA medical center (which does have a level I ER.)

The cops shot him and let him flop around on the ground, unattended, while they summoned an ambulance from downtown LA, at rush hour. Took more than an hour for it to arrive.

The victim, by then, was dead.

So the 22 minute delay in Memphis is not something new - it is, perhaps, a well practiced drill.

Just watched the very disturbing videos of the beating to death of #Tyre #Nichols by 5 #thugs wearing #police uniforms.

No before any #bootlickers say "he should have just complied" - these thugs didn't give him the chance. They immediately escalated a traffic stop into a physical altercation.

When Tyre ran for his life, they chased him, cuffed him, and beat him to death while he was cuffed.

And they did it all on body cam. They didn't give a single shit among the 5 of them that they were recording their actions. They assumed that there would be no #repercussions for their actions.

And the bootlickers will tell you that we don't need any #reform. But when the people that we, as the public, pay and empower to uphold the law and protect the rights of the people are the ones breaking the law and violating the rights of the people, something is seriously wrong.

#Tyre #nichols was scared. Terrified. His fight or flight response kicked in. He wasn’t a threat. The #Memphis police could have kept an eye on him, followed him, waited for him to calm down. Or, heck, just let him go. But our societal fear of “evil” and the “bad guy” make it so easy to see violence as the solution. It’s not. Compassion trumps violence. (Pun intended.) “Don’t be too nice” trump once said to a roomful of cops. Piece of shit. 😡
