Das neue Handy war der Anlass, endlich Alternativen zum #NovaLauncher auszuprobieren, bevor der Launcher den Bach runtergeht.

- Der #NiagaraLauncher ist ohne Kauf oder Abo nur ein stylischer App Drawer ohne weitere Funktion.

- Der #Kvaesitso Launcher könnte für mich funktionieren. Aber ohne sortierte Apps, in Ordnern oder hier Tags, ist er witzlos. Die Apps in Tags zu sortieren ist ungenügend und maßlos frustrierend. Eine nachträgliche Bearbeitung der Tag-Inhalte ist scheinbar auch nicht möglich. Somit für mich unbrauchbar, wenn ich praktisch jede App über die Suche starten muss.

- #Lawnchair habe ich erst gar nicht ausprobiert. Er ist Beta.

Ich bin kurz davor doch wieder den #NovaLauncher zu installieren. 🤷‍♂️

I really like how I customized the lock screen (fig 2) with Xiaomi clock style, and the home screen (fig 1) with Niagara launcher. More clock styles would certainly be nice though!

Unfortunately Xiaomi MIUI deeply integrates gesture navigation into their own launcher, so I'd have to put up with the three button navi bar at the bottom of the screen. But it is not a problem so far.

Since #NovaLauncher is about to die, I've started to take a look at some #Android #launchers that got recommendations on the web.

I have to confess: don't get why people like #NiagaraLauncher:

Its usage patterns look like worst-case UX to me. Instead of taking advantage of spacial memory and quick access to frequently used apps in an array of icons, the user seems to scroll through a very long all-app list with only a few favorites on top with optional search. Just one dimension. It's so much more effort to invoke an app ...

IMO this kind of minimalism sacrifices usability in order to get a better look at the desktop background - which is simply black in my case.

Has anybody a recommendation for a launcher that is as much similar as possible to Nova? 🤔

Gonna have to use my iPhone for about two weeks now because Department of Commerce regulations forbid carrying the testing phone into China (exceptions can be applied for but I won’t bother).

Omg I really miss the Niagara launcher 🥹 that was the main feature that allowed me to cut down on news and social media (sorry folks I haven’t been posting much at all here) because I can hide those apps from Home Screen and also access them quickly if I need to.

Still no custom launcher possible #Apple? I miss my #niagaralauncher since switching back to #iOS. With quite a few other items:
No proper alternative keyboard (Florisboard ftw!) and the keyboard sucks.

Nothing similar to @fdroidorg on iOS. With the alternative appstores in EU I was hoping this would be possible. And lastly, KDE connect only has limited functionality.

Probably will move to #OctopiLauncher for good

Ele é um lançador bem #minimalista e em modo texto que simplesmente coloca todos os aplicativos em ordem alfabética. Com seus mais usados aparecendo na frente! A transição não é natural pois somos muito visuais e lembramos mais dos ícones que dos nomes dos programas... mas depois a diminuição de dispersão compensa.

My favourite launcher #NiagaraLauncher introduced notifications that remind you of using apps for too long. I prefer this approach over setting a timer for apps because in real world usage a hard cut is not always possible.
One thing I also would like to see is a dialog on opening specific apps that ask if I really want to use that app 👀

I can't decide which one to use: #NiagaraLauncher or #AIOLauncher. The former is sleek and cool while the latter I see all information I want with a text-based interface.

For years I used #NovaLauncher (paid) but it's time to move on from #Android's ancient #UI and #UX design.

I must admit your #android launcher is rather nice, super fast ,takes a bit to get used to it, but a nice change from Nova or the stock launcher . Plus they #icons are great 👍

Hearing about the shenanigans at #NovaLauncher and how it's been bought by a data harvesting company has forced me to think about a new #Android launcher.

So far very impressed with the minimal approach of #NiagaraLauncher, although the #PearLauncher is more familiar territory.

I've got a feeling I'm going to drop Niagara a few quid for the full version

Initial thoughts; still prefer app pairs, hopefully will have the feature in #PixelROM soon

Disabling the hinge gap makes watching media unnerving so I kept it

Keyboard way too unwieldy unless use floating option to replicate one handed mode

Too used to clean home screen so am on #NiagaraLauncher

#Lawnchair has released #LawnIcons v2: the new version of its #iconpack is now compatible with other custom launchers too, currently with #NovaLauncher , #NiagaraLauncher and #SmartLauncher .
