  3. I recall a discussion at #NFD31 where “Should Enterprise Networks Run Like Service Provider Networks?” was the core premise. There’s a lot of discussion to be had there… but with this news, the idea of treating Internet traffic as a payload, isolated from the control network worth considering. blog.talosintelligence.com/sta

  7. This week’s discussions surrounding lock-in have me thinking that we all have slightly different definitions of what lock-in actually is. There will be more thoughts to come on this. 🤔 #NFD31

  8. Wait a minute? People •think• before they start typing on the keyboard? My paradigm has just shifted. 🙂 #NFD31

  9. @mrtugs This is where that second interpretation comes in. If we're addressing our on-premises or DC workloads using the same abstractions that we use for our public cloud workloads, they cease being competing concepts at that point. We get to put stuff where it needs to be. #NFD31

  10. @mrtugs There are two interpretations of "cloud" out there. There's the cloud that you buy (AWS, Azure, GCP, &c) and there's the cloud that abstracts the infrastructure (Kubernetes, OpenStack, &c.) so that we don't care where the workloads are. Private cloud sits firmly in that second interpretation. #NFD31

  12. @mrtugs According to the "about us" section of their web site, it's BackBox... not to be mistaken for the BackBox Linux distribution. #NFD31

  13. One of the biggest challenges for automation is working with devices that •still• focus on human-oriented interfaces. Companies like @back_box have a huge task to manage that... especially when these interfaces have a way of changing. #NFD31

  14. I don't see that very often. My last employer was on @back_box's nascar slide. #NFD31

  15. Yesterday, I heard a large IT vendor referred to as "the big green bridge" and I •know• that's going to stick in my vocabulary. #NFD31

  16. We're looking forward to hearing from Tech Field Day at Networking Field Day 31 next week! #NFD31 techfieldday.com/event/nfd31/

  17. It's not just me! Someone else at #NFD31 is referring to IPv4 as "Legacy IP" now!
