I am using Nextcloud 32.0.11.1 on Armbian (bookworm based) running on bare metal - no docker. The nextcloud service HPB is down, the AI workers are disabled.
I don't care about "HPB down" because everything I need just works. An update to trixie (successor to bookworm) is offered via the command
'sudo ncp-dist-upgrade'
I have read some bad stories about the migration from bookworm to trixe like
replaced "cron" by systemd/timed" etc. What is the experience of other users in this environment after the update ?
Do I have to fix the "HPB down" problem prior to the update ?
DO I have to enable the 5 AI services prior to the update ?#nextcloud #nextcloudpi #armbian #fedihelp #bookworm #trixie

Danach: SSL error wegen "certificate stapling - no longer supported" von letsencrypt. Anpassung an ssl Conf nötig. Leider nun wieder die katastrophale Fehlermeldung "HPB Service: down'.

I spent some time last night rebuilding my #NextcloudPi so that it would use the USB drive for storage - a silly mistake I was keen to fix.
Managed to figure that out and was quite impressed with the UX, but sadly I was unable to connect to it this morning. After a bit of thought, I think I figured out where I went wrong, and am keen to rebuild it later today.
With me taking a couple of days off work, nice to be doing some computering for myself.

NextcloudPi ist weiterhin ein tolles Projekt:
- Nur SD-Karte/USB-Stick mit dem Image versehen. Fertig.
- "riesiges" Verwaltungsbackend:
Einhängen von Speichermedien, automatisierte Backups und Updates (auch der Datenbanken), SSH, Samba, NFS, Formatierung von USB-Medien, fail2ban, DNS-Verwaltung, https ... -

Last update to nextcloudpi version 1.57.0 destroyed my valid, not self-signed certificate (from letsencrypt) and now it is using this invalid certificate for all clients !
I replaced the "snake-oil" certificate with the correct one in the apache2 settings but each client still complains about this certificate and needs an exception.
Yes, I restarted apache2 and there is no visible problem on the server.
Do I have to reboot the server in order to get the correct certificates into the clients ?
Any hints ?

#Nextcloudpi 1.57.0 is out, bringing #Nextcloud 33 + some improvements.
Notably:
Manual and automatic NC updates will now check for enabled Nextcloud apps that are incompatible with the new version and abort if any are found.
This can be disabled from the #ncp web interface (under nc-update-nextcloud/nc-autoupdate-nc) and is enabled by default. The custom and outdated fork of previewgenerator has been dropped in favor of the latest upstream version.

Considering to migrate my RBPi5 from #NextCloudPi to #Yunohost. My Nextcloud data directory is on an SSD, the system boots from MicroSD. Can I just boot Yunohost, install Nextcloud, point it to my SSD and trigger file indexing? Or is that a bad idea and needs further prep?

@jcrabapple I am fairly new to selfhosting and only do so locally, but I have been using:
#NextcloudPi - files, notes, music, room temperature, links to lots of things as well as...
#Karakeep - "read it later" articles
#Forgejo - non public repos and work in progress
#Watchtower - to update Forgejo and Karakeep -

@mhier @werawelt @swr3 Woher ich das habe ?

I think I am going to move back from #Nextcloud to #nextcloudpi
I have learned a lot about Docker in the process, but I still can't get NextCloud to update properly and I think that the Pi variant is a lot easier to set up. -

A question for #nextcloudpi and #nextcloud AI folks: would adding #hailo 8l to my #rpi5 offer any performance advantage?

@GhostOnTheHalfShell
There is a simple way to have your own data with #NextcloudPI on a Raspberry PI and retrieve it via the internet via DAV and with Nextcloud apps.
Then you are independent of USA-big-corporations and it hardly needs money and only from time to time for an update.
For the security of the connection you could still use VPN.https://opensource.com/article/23/3/nextcloudpi-nextcloud-raspberry-pi

Finally got back to setting up #Nextcloud on a #RaspberryPi today (using #NextcloudPi), after failing to make it work some months ago.
Turns out I was just one "sudo reboot" away from making it work last time (which I figured out after redoing the entire installation process)... -
@jedie @bertagieselbusch @yunohost
CW: Venting on NextCloud server maintenance
I just don't understand why any time that I move my #NextCloud
server's data directory to a new location, a major disaster must happen. I was just about to lose a massive quantity of data. I had to re-set all sync connections on my cllient. There is a web interface to my #NextCloudPi who promised to move the data dir smoothly. Result: disaster, manual salvaging. #justVenting -

@nextcloud Use #nextcloudpi and a daily backup feature is included.😃

To inform #nextcloudpi users on #armbian : the latest update obviously sets PHP8.4 as default version for the command-line.
This doesn't work well with #nextcloud as backups won't work ("not compatible with PHP 8.4"). I guess after a reboot the HPB will be down - one of my "favourite" error message☹️ . You have to set the PHP alternative manually back to php-8.3.sudo update-alternatives --config php
-
After update from #nextcloudpi to v1.55.2 and subsequently #nextcloud from 28.0.5 to 29.0.4
there are two php-fpm services running:
php8.2-fpm
and
php8.3-fpmAlternatives show php8.3 in use and "php -v" gives php8.3 as result, too.
So I stopped php8.2-fpm and that didn't harm nextcloud, at all.
After that I disabled the service php8.2-fpm.
I hope this is OK 🤔
The update of #nextcloud to 29.0.4 via #nextcloudpi v1.55.2 did install php8.3 and set it as default resp. alternative. -
#Nextcloudpi did it again: the bastards delete ALL PHP8.3-FPM when it did this self-scheduled update, and, get this, who would have thought, amazing, you delete CRITICAL PACKAGES and guess what, the whole machine is instantly crippled!
Now who in all of techdom could have guessed that. Idiots. #Iamnotamused
If your crew is listening, I advise reading "man apt-get". Oh and thank you for ruining another wonderful morning.
-
Another inexcusable: for what ungodly reason do #NextcloudPi upgrades begin by REMOVING every last one of the php8.x-* packages, whether it uses it or not? The first thing that happens, of course, is the ENTIRE WEBSERVER GOES DOWN crashing the upgrade in an unusable state and taking down all other PHP websites in the process. What possible "engineering necessity" prompts this idiocy?
A secret tip for those devs: apt-get has an "upgrade" option.
Ok, I'll stop griping now. For a while at least.

Also doch wieder zurück zum Selbermachen.
@NextCloudPi -
So, I have a #NextCloudPi set up now, but I don't know what to do with it really...
It's not user friendly enough to use at home, and it doesn't add anything to my home that I didn't already have in one way or another... -
just discovered (and recovered from) another modern danger: latest auto-upgrade for #Nextcloud via #NextcloudPi involves an SQL import that, with my particular database, exceeded the (rather conservative) default timeouts for #mariadb, and as a result leaves the system bricked!
I learned all about *_timeout settings restoring the backup by hand, because they wouldn't have worked from the ncp panel either.

Hello World! 🌈
The official #nextcloudpi account has been very quiet lately, but I'll intend to change that starting now.
For the time being, expect update information and roadmap updates.
-
@dusoft This might be exactly what I am looking for to monitor uptime and temperature for my #NextCloudPi . Thank you for sharing.

In #Nextcloud (or #NextcloudPi) 27.1, does "Include data" in the Backups copy all of the user Files files? (it says "users' data (calendar, contacts, and other files)" but on a document, audio or video server, that's a whopping overhead)
If it does take all the folders Files, is there some way to backup just the Nextcloud data like calendar entries, RSS-feeds, email-connects, recipies etc or is all that stuff backed up without this option?
Or should I just move my files elsewhere first?
-
Here's a #nextcloudpi test: if the link works, you should get an mp3 from the big band swing dance last night. Does anyone get shown a download that then won't work? If it does work, does the mp3 skip in your player?
