I loved this book. It reminded me a bit of the novels of fellow POM Michael Moorcock, especially the vibe of the Dancers at the End of Time. Must get hold of Perdido Street Station (2000) and Iron Council (2004) so I've read the whole trilogy.

Wahnsinns-Expositionsabschnitt aus »Blood. A Southern Fantasy« (1995) von #MichaelMoorcock. Das ist bestes #NewWeird einige Jahre bevor es ›erfunden‹ wurde. Makro-Weltenbau ist goil ohne Ende; Meso-Struktur der Raum-Zeit-Erzählperspektiven ist trippig; Mikro-Ebene von Sprach-Rhythmus und -Melodie sind durchgehend lyrisch gelanden. Bin schwerst begeistert.

Habe gelesen: "Absolution" von #JeffVanderMeer. Ein durchgeknalltes, irres Buch im allerbesten Sinne. Komplex. Tolle Charaktere. Erfährt man mit diesem finalen Band endlich alles über Area X? Hahaha! Nein. Stellen sich neue Fragen? Na klar. Trotzdem bekommt man insgesamt ein besseres Bild davon, was vor sich gehen oder gegangen sein könnte. Vorstellungskrafttraining. Nach Teil 1 wohl der beste Band der Reihe.

This #NewWeird #Fantasy of baroque metaphysics and bizarre worldbuilding sometimes reads more like a dark grisly fairy tale or myth than a conventional novel. It is a bit unsatisfying how passive the protagonist is, mostly following the (sometimes magical) orders of others rather than driving the narrative. Highly memorable. @bookstodon

Lecz sonda wróciła z tajemnicami, a naukowcy mogli wiecznie chwytać się brzytwy i już zawsze nie mieć pojęcia, czym są te tajemnice. New Horizons wróciła, R'yleh powstała, śpiący się obudził.

I zaczął się Koniec.
