"Repair cafes are pop-up community events where people can bring their broken items and volunteers will try their best to fix them.

"The idea was born in Amsterdam in 2009 with the hopes of cutting waste and #BuildingCommunity.

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced £1.9m in funding for seven active travel projects across Northern #Ireland. These initiatives aim to promote sustainable transport like walking, cycling, and wheeling, enhancing community wellbeing and the environment. The funding, part of the "Foundations for a Better Future" initiative, supports schemes in Mid-Ulster, #Belfast, #Newry, #Mourne and Down, and #Antrim and #Newtownabbey. It will improve infrastructure, introduce e-bikes, and develop greenways. The funding will be allocated over the 2024/25 and 2025/26 financial years, with projects subject to public expenditure processes before final approval.
