Went to interview Santa for a little community story. For the interview, he actually patted his chair and had me sit with him like one of the kids. So I included that detail in the story.

I very much like how the CBS Evening News has stopped opening the show by teasing every single story in the broadcast. I never understood that. And I'm a former news producer who had to write show-opening "headlines," so I get the concept. But I always thought it was majorly overboard to have two minutes of headlines before getting to the top story.

I should plug, on that note, some nice work over the last 48 hours by Dani Prokop at Source New Mexico (sourcenm.com) as she watches the scene at a border crossing near #ElPaso. Effectively acting as a correspondent observing an unpredictable humanitarian situation.

Reading this collection of #Hemingway’s #journalism and today, specifically, dispatches for the Toronto Daily Star from Asia Minor during the Greco-Turkish population “exchange” (also known as a civil ethnic-religious cleansing) in 1922-23.
I have a real taste for these vivid portrayals of scenes like this, and wish I saw that kind of work produced today. A good #correspondent is such a feather in a newspaper’s/website’s cap.
