Just polled my software team: without googling or asking, have you heard of #copyfail ? if so, do you know what it is sufficiently to explain it to a colleague?

Call me old fashioned, but when I was a #developer I _kept tabs on shit_. First coffee every morning was pouring over #slashdot and #thedailywtf and a dozen tech specific #blogs and #newsgroups and #channels. Whats new, or blowing up?

you cando ssl proxy with squid also i think - you run it and grab cert for your browsers, put your bank on bump list and have viz for siem - i still have to do this, is is a bit gray hat, not really but you do need to think about it and be judicious, it is industry standard best practice if you want to look at it objectively (widely used) , it lives on the edge is basically transparent. a good upgrade for malcolm box, can be cpu intensive if you have a busy network - you have to offer this to clients #pkt cap #dpi #flavors of tls #open source #newsgroups

Das hieß früher nur anders, in den 80ern traff man sich in elektronischen #Mailboxen, in den 90ern erst in #Newsgroups, dann in chats zb dem #IRC und später dann zusätzlich in #Foren. Der Mensch war schon immer sozial und hat auch digital Kontakte gesucht. Das ging dann auch ins offline Leben von #Lanpartys bis zu deutschlandweiten #Usertreffen . Mitte der 90er bin ich zb oft quer durch DE zu unser Treffen gefahren.

Yesterday I work most of the day in implementing #newsgroups #articles #threading support on #UsenetReborn updated the main branch and the image, let me know what you think.

You should think of using alternatives that do not suffer from all these lock-in effects.

I'd strongly suggest a revival of the good old #Usenet (#newsgroups). We've got plenty of awesome clients for that already.

Been in IT for 25 years, toiling in the early days of the #WorldWideWeb with #Newsgroups, #IRQ, #BulletinBoards and the “closed garden” approach (hello #AOL #Compuserve #Prodigy #MSN #AIM #ICQ how are you these days? 😬) through the chaotic and somewhat toxic nonsense of social media - just when you’ve seen it all, you get surprised. We were so positive…so optimistic. What were we thinking? #GenX #ShouldHaveKnown #Meh #Whatever #AhWellWeMeantWell

@ben0_o TBH the curating of my online #identity grew out of #harassment experiences I had back in the days of #BBS's, #chatrooms and #Usenet #newsgroups, and also concern while job hunting that there be as little controversy directly attached to my job application name as possible (any hobby will develop drama eventually).

I have no illusions that a little effort would link almost any of my presences but I found through trial and error the techniques that reduced the casual harassment.
