  1. How January 2026 Already Feels Like a Whole Year

January 2026 has felt like a year within itself. We’re only a few weeks into the month, and yet it feels as if the weight of time has condensed, making every day feel like a chapter in a longer saga. It’s not the typical feeling of a new year’s freshness or the usual optimism that comes with turning the page on a calendar. Instead, there’s something different about this January — something that feels stretched, intense, and heavy. In a way, it’s as if time itself has slowed, […]

  3. Before you get wound up today in social media use this calming mantra:

    Same crap different toilet...
    Same crap different toilet.

  4. A quotation from Rogers, Will:

    «
That’s the characteristic of our country. We can get all lathering at the time over some political campaign promise, or some conference pledge, but if the thing just drags along long enough we forget what it was that originally promised. The short memories of the American voters is what keeps our politicians in office.

  5. 👀 Per a comment at HuffPo:

“Even after all of these years we want to treat Trump like a politician. He's not. His only goal is to control the news cycle. He's a propagandist. He uses communication as a weapon of control. His tricks are easily understood and easy to track and explain. “

  6. Between the European Football finals (semi finals?) and the inevitable News Cycle tomorrow, might just try to stay offline as much as possible 😮‍💨😒

  7. Things I've learned since I ditched the #birdsite for good:

We don't need to know everything about everywhere all of the time! It's OK to fall behind on local and world news; to catch up at weekends, or to abandon the #newscycle altogether!

We shouldn't feel annoyed with ourselves when a friend updates us on something we hadn't yet heard ourselves. Conversations feel so much more natural when those taking part haven't already heard absolutely everything there is to hear about already!

  9. @samuraikid
The mistake some make is they only watch #theNews, "just so I can talk to other people about it."

    WHAT OTHER PEOPLE?

They open themselves up to be #indoctrinated daily with #mythicalNarratives, while rejecting #alternateSources, all for some mythical person they'll somehow impress at work, because they can regurgitate a few 3-word-slogans. Will she be so impressed she'll leave the husband, drown his kids, have your baby?

This carnal, bloodlust, meat-brain #newsCycle *is* a virus.
