Did some more research and the PCB numbers match with Taiwanese units made until 1994. So it's definitely a Made In Taiwan (MIT) pedal.
Checked the internals. Input and output jacks look OK. I guess it's the footswitch that is causing issues, it has completely fallen apart, hence all the tape. It has to be replaced. Other than that there's not much wrong with it. Sounds great, time to start a Nirvana tribute band.

Checked the serial number, 109115, and that's from September 1981. That can't be true, this is definitely a Taiwanese version, even the serial sticker says so. And it can run on a battery. But the PCB version is from 1984. Oh I love these kinds of little mysteries hidden in such a small object.

This battered Boss DS-1 caught my attention. Asked the seller where it was made. Taiwan, so not the more sought after Japanese version. But the thing is, early Taiwanese versions were basically the same as their Japanese counterparts, up until 1994. Then Boss started using a dual opamp instead of the TA7136 IC which meant the design had to be changed.
So could this be an early Taiwanese version with the much desired Toshiba opamp?

Here's the analog delay I came across on Marktplaats, the Dutch eBay branch. It's an Ibanez ADL from the Master series, the successor to the AD9. As far as I know it's practically the same as an AD9.
You gotta love those 300ms of bucket-brigade device delay time!

Stumbled upon an old analog delay and the seller also offered this Boss SD-1. Tried one years ago and I liked it back then. Price was right so asked the seller to add it to my purchase. When it came in I was curious of course, what version would it be?
Well, it looks like the made in Taiwan version but it does have the JRC4558DD opamp. So it's a good one. Sounds great and comes with the bleeding issue which is another giveaway that this is an older unit.

#NewPedalDay but belated. Received an #EHX Nano Q-tron over the holidays. Finally got to hooking it up to give it a spin. I like how effects which react to dynamics really make you more deliberate with your attack. What songs does #GearSquad suggest to learn with it?

Just picked up a Strymon El Capistan. It's replacing a Danelectro Dan-echo. It's good for the features it has, but I was looking for more capabilities. The Strymon adds stereo (to go with my stereo tremolo and chorus), tap tempo, multi-head tape with all that entails, reverb, self-oscillation 🚀, reverb, and support for external foot switch, expression pedal, or MIDI.

Been doing really well not looking at pedals for a while but looked on FB marketplace last week and saw this.
£15 delivered!
I did point out it was worth a lot more but as the seller just wanted rid and appreciated my honesty I got a proper bargain.

The Carcosa is my first fuzz, and it's definitely as versatile people say. I definitely need to spend more time working out the before/after knobs and the two modes.
The flanger I put before the drives since that was the most "roomy" place for the current cabling. It seems subtle. I'll have to spend more time, try it after my drives to see if it comes through more pronounced.
Between the Carcosa and the two MXR pedals, I'm quite blind.😂

The Carcosa is my first fuzz, and it's definitely as versatile people say. I definitely need to spend more time working out the before/after knobs and the two modes.
The flanger I put before the drives since that was the most "roomy" place for the current cabling. It seems subtle. I'll have to spend more time, try it after my drives to see if it comes through more pronounced.
