Of all the things I've been told about being a new parent the overwhelming number of strangers poking their noses into my everyday activity was not told to me. We've been told how great it is that I'm so involved. Multiple times this is followed by their own tale of how uninvolved their partner was in the months after birth. This bewilders me since the "absent Black father" is a prevalent stereotype. There's more to absence than just the lack of physical presence.
