warum ist es eigentlich keiner großen Erwähnung oder gar Warnung wert, wenn sich Microsoft ungefragt Passwörter(!) von externen IMAP-Konten seiner "Kunden" selbst in die US-Cloud kopiert, um die Mails (auch etwa von Ärzten, Anwälten, Lehrern, Kindern, ...) für eigene Zwecke abzurufen und auf eigenen Servern mit "KI" zu durchsuchen und auszuwerten?

IMO sind da so einige Grundsätze der Sicherheit in der Informationstechnologie verletzt.

Soon there'll be no more need to code mail templates like it’s 1999. Starting April 2026, Microsoft will begin transitioning from classic Outlook to the new Outlook experience, dropping the ancient MS Word based HTML rendering and replacing it with a normal web engine.
Admins will have the power to opt out (for now), and users can toggle back to classic Outlook - at least until the full cutover, which could be as late as 2029.

DON'T be tempted to try the "new outlook", via the insignificant little slider, if you are forced to use the MS beast at work.
Its just a really poor bit of software even compared to the very painful original.

Sollte man das neue " #Outlook (new) " benutzten, wenn es (vermutlich) nicht #DSGVO konform und nicht mehr so sicher ist, wie das alte Outlook, da z.B. Passwörter von Mailkonten an #Microsoft übertragen werden?

I'm worried that the #Microsoft #Outlook team has lost the plot. I got this message when when I clicked "Reply All" to an email (after a few seconds of a loading spinner). Call me old fashioned but I think email clients should reliably send email.

The consternation over New Outlook makes sense for corporate folks, and in the background they keep adding features to it. You can apparently pin a shortcut to the Calendar to your Taskbar by right clicking on its icon. #NewOutlook

I give up, #NewOutlook is utterly unusable and makes old traditional #Outlook seem actually useful. Can't say I'm a Microsoft fan and I never actually liked traditional Outlook, but I'm happy to be going back to it - which tells you how bad New Outlook is...!

Today's #NewOutlook annoyance: searching for an email will give you a page of 75 results and won't fetch more until you scroll down, and there's a cap at 1,000 results. If you need something past that 1,000? Too bad.
If I wasn't being paid to use this program, I would be setting my computer on fire right about now (I'm kidding, of course. I would have done it two weeks ago) -
I thought about this concept of choosing a focus word a bunch. I am choosing the word "understand" to frame my year. I hope it brings me new #insights and #empathy, and I hope it helps me appreciate when others understand me. I hope it brings me surprising new ways to #understand #understanding.
