The Sargent-at-Arms blocks Tennessee State Representative Justin Pearson of Memphis from entering a legislative committee meeting about redrawing that state's electoral map — specifically for *the district he represents*. The measure to approve the effective elimination of the state's only majority Black voting district — replacing it with five new majority White Republican districts — follows last week's Roberts-Alito Court ruling abolishing the remaining provisions of the Voting Rights Act.

Adam Serwer writing in *The Atlantic* on the recent 8th circuit appeals decision gutting the Voting Right Act. The decision prevents citizens and groups from filing lawsuits seeking relief under the act, limiting it to the Justice Department. A government action. Which, as Sewer notes, is at odds with the intent of congress and longstanding application.

@TonyStark Why should Republicans start complaining about white supremacists when white supremacy is the whole subtext of the Reagan Revolution, which still going today. Just like Jim Crow was a backlash to reconstruction, Reagan Revolution was a backlash to the Civil Rights era. The backlash periods last 10x longer than the instigating events, apparently.
