New Jersey's FUNEBRARUM have a new LP coming on May 29, 'Beckoning the Void of Eternal Silence'. I don't usually talk about records here before they're out, but the two singles they've released for it are ridiculously good. Especially this first one from March.

The drums, the guitar, the vocals, hell yes. This is the best sounding Funebrarum stuff so far. Psyched to hear the rest of the record, which I'm sure I'm gonna love.

Today (October 31) in 1980, The Smithereens released their debut 4 song EP 'Girls About Town'. The four songs were also included on 'Attack of the Smithereens', one of their compilations. Great bunch of songs here. It didn't have them in a playlist on YouTube, so I made one.

20 years ago today on September 7, 2004, my favorite band The Smithereens released this killer 2 CD set of some of their best songs. I was 24 and I bought it then despite having most of these songs from their records. And still have my copy, I just found it in my old CD book.

Definitely worth a listen, this has some classics and also some interesting covers - and you KNOW those Smithereens boys love (and are great at) covers, just as their inspirations the Beatles were before them.

RIP Pat DiNizio, one of the nicest, realest dudes I ever met. Looks like I'll be listening to some Smithereens this next week.
