  1. I grew up eating something we call Newfie potato salad. It's a mashed potato dish which is bright yellow because of all the mustard in it, served with a dressing made of mustard and condensed milk. Then it gets a generous dusting of paprika.

When I was about twelve, I invited a schoolmate over for supper. Her name was Minu and she was from India. Mom made the Newfie potato salad, but accidentally used cayenne pepper instead of paprika. Minu took a bite, her eyes shot up in surprise, and then she said, "I didn't know Canadians like spicy food!"

    Just a funny memory. #NewfoundlandFood #PotatoSalad #CultureClash

  2. If I’m feeling up to it, I want to bake bread for Christmas. This is a recipe my grandmother used to make when I was a little kid. I made it last year, and my mouth was so happy remembering those flavours I hadn’t had since the 70s. newfoundland.ws/old-fashioned- #newfoundland #SweetBread #NewfoundlandFood #Bread #recipe #baking #KitchenWitch
