    IMO no research is necessary. It’s their land after all and now part and parcel of multicultural Australian culture. You’d have to be a total #fascist to argue against that. And that is what those arseholes (as seen on the News) are, fasists (all fascists are #racist).

    Racism isn’t an inherent trait in humans. It’s a learned behaviour, culturally embedded from emotional fragility and fear of ‘Others’ (those unlike oneself). From my view, the fight against #racism is an educational issue, both formal (schooling) and informal (home life). Public social campaigns on what passes for main stream media would go a long way to fight this — for anyone who remembers the success of the road litters campaign: ‘Don’t be a tosser…’

    The problem is that #Australian racism is too often ‘normalised’ and too easily dismissed as an historical artefact that characterises ockerism. It needs to be called out for what it is, by all of us when we see/hear/read it. It’s our job. The job of all who live on this borrowed land.

    Ok, had a look.
    Pity most Australians citizens do not know them and regularly disreguard those values… yet we demand adherence to these precepts as a prerequisite to immigration… hmmmmm

    Moreover, it smacks of post-colonial nationalism without reflecting our much older original history and culture. If I’d take a guess, those values would have been produced when the LNP were in govt, No?

    For the record:

    I understand that Australian society values:
    respect for the freedom and dignity of the individual;
    freedom of religion (including the freedom not to follow a particular religion), freedom of speech, and freedom of association;
    commitment to the rule of law, which means that all people are subject to the law and should obey it;
    parliamentary democracy whereby our laws are determined by parliaments elected by the people, those laws being paramount and overriding any other inconsistent religious or secular “laws”;
    equality of opportunity for all people, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, race, or national or ethnic origin;
    a ‘fair go’ for all that embraces:
    mutual respect;
    tolerance;
    compassion for those in need;
    equality of opportunity for all;
    the English language as the national language, and as an important unifying element of Australian society.
    I undertake to conduct myself in accordance with these values of Australian society during my stay in Australia and to obey the laws of Australia.

    Thats-a some mighty fine real estate you make mention of! All along the scenic Parramatta river! So, in the genial spirit of Sydney's obsession with real estate prices, I'll take me to a spreadsheet and calculate the rent owed to the Burramattagal-Darug peoples since 1791...let me see, land appreciates exponentially per acre...the time constants might have changed a bit...
