  1. Hi everyone! I help biomedical researchers write and communicate their science. I'm a neuroscientist by training. I love to garden and knit, and I'm an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.

  2. Great advice-poem from Richard Sutton @ DLRLSS 2019:
"To write is to begin to think.
To write in a special place,
    - a book such as this -
    is to honour your thoughts
    and to help them build,
    one upon the other."

  6. Hey everyone—short intro after moving my account from mastodon.social. I am a behavioral neuroscientist studying the neural mechanisms of emotional learning and memory in rats. The lab has been instrumental in defining the neural circuits underlying the contextual control of extinguished fear memories; this has broad relevance to context-dependent memory more generally.

  8. Thought I’d write a quick #introduction! I'm a Professor at the University of Toronto where my lab studies the neural and cognitive mechanisms supporting memory and perception.

Recently, we’ve launched a line of research that seeks to translate core principles from memory science into tangible solutions to mitigate memory loss. You can read about our first attempt here: psyarxiv.com/2fwup/.

Very happy to be part of the #NeuroscienceMigration and to connect with you here!

  10. An introduction after moving my account to neuromatch.social -

I'm a neuroscientist at #Cornell. My recent research focuses on psychoactive drugs such as #ketamine and #psychedelics. I want to know how these compounds act on #dendrites and cortical microcircuits to mediate behavioral effects.

Outside of the lab, I enjoy drinking a good cup of espresso and rock climbing with my kids.

  14. It's #FollowFriday, so let's share a thing that we are proud of doing this year!

For myself: I'm proud that I attended #SfN22 and presented my early research in-person. I've wanted to go to Society for Neuroscience since I was an undergraduate but never had the opportunity since I worked all through college to stay afloat.

I just joined my lab earlier this year and still managed to have something to talk about and contribute to science. I also had a new chronic illness kick in late this summer, so navigating the extra fatigue, pain, and symptoms was something I was unsure about. Wrapping IcyHot around my legs, taking meds, resting and accepting my physical limits without collapsing or falling into posterboards was a major plus. There is so much more I wanted to see, but I hope next year I will be able to catch up and make up the difference.

It helps tremendously to have a lab that always has your back!

What are you proud of this year, #Academic / #Science mastodon?

IMHO after those three confidences in your chosen instance:
    1 Impressum/Entity
    2 Operators
    3 Moderators
then the less important to consider:

    4 Local timeline
    5 Federated timeline

(Both become difficult of usability once an instance reaches beyond thousand accounts)

    In any case, don't forget:

Continuous curation of follows: Accounts & Tags

  17. Hey #SfN / #SfN22 / #SfN2022 people!

If you missed my post-7-hour-drive exhausted and crusty Saturday night poster presentation, you have another chance to come see it on Wednesday afternoon! Poster L11 (opiod section) 3-4pm!

Come find me! I'll be less tired!!

Also please send me a message if you'd like to meet up at Society for Neuroscience!

  18. I think I’m due for an #introduction! I’m an MD/PhD student at #uOttawa, doing my PhD in #neuroscience with Jean-Claude Béïque and Richard Naud. My work explores how uncertainty in reward feedback is processed in #prefrontal cortex, mainly in the context of #autism.

To do this, I use #behavior tasks in mice along with simultaneous in vivo two-photon calcium imaging. I also model #learning and #DecisionMaking using #ReinforcementLearning #RL.

Some of my other interests include patch clamp #ephys, post #stroke #synapse remodeling, #serotonin, #psychedelics and #consciousness.

Follow if you want to join me in finding and sharing interesting papers and ideas!

  20. Hey #NeuroscienceMigration and #Neuroscience folks! I'm presenting pain relief (opioid, Hsp90, and phospholipase C-focused) research at #SfN22 / #SfN2022 in 2 poster sessions! I'm really excited for my very first SfN & this will be my first poster since switching to a new lab earlier this year. Put me in your itinerary! ✨ Let's network and have a couple dozen cups of coffee!

Saturday: 6:30-8:30pm L1 TPDA Trainee Professional Development Award session
    Wednesday: 3-4pm 711.03 Opioids/Pain

Here's the link to my abstract:

Investigating the role of phospholipase C in enhancing opioid pain relief during Hsp90 inhibition

    Session Title: Opioids and Pain
    Presentation Number: 711.03
Presentation Time: Wed Nov. 16, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

  21. #Introduction time! #NeuroscienceMigration

    🎓 I'm a PhD candidate in #neuroscience at #uOttawa searching for a one-sentence explanation of what #serotonin does in the 🧠.

💻 I take a bottom-up #computational and systems neuroscience approach, creating new mathematical and software tools to link (electro)physiology and function.

Follow for papers and #python, maybe some #urbanism on the side.

  23. @seasonqiu Welcome! Make sure to watch the #NeuroscienceMigration hashtag to find more people. Will you be presenting at #SfN virtually or in person? I'll be posting my poster info soon. I'm presenting on Saturday and Wednesday. ✨️

  24. @padberg I have already come across so much more interesting medical science and neuroscience here, compared to that other place! #NeuroscienceMigration

  25. @ScienceisWhere A ton of folks in neuroscience can be found through #NeuroscienceMigration ! With #SfN2022 starting next week, I'm excited to network with more people and help build up solid mastodon networks. The #TwitterMigration includes soooo many neuroscientists! I am planning to post my poster information here in a little bit. I know #SfN has specific social media images for that kind of thing that we can use.

  26. Hello! #introduction

I'm a computational neuroscientist, currently a postdoc at Princeton, but about to start my own group at #bostonuniversity. I build neural networks, trying to keep them real with biology, and analyze neural population dynamics using #machinelearning.

Sometimes, I do some #sciencewriting about other peoples science. I also love #julialanguage, and try to contribute to that effort.

I think the #neurosciencemigration is freaking awesome. Fight the man!

  27. With #NeuroscienceMigration happening, two resources I've found:
    (1) twitodon.com: register with them to link your twitter and mastodon accounts. Then it will find (and output an importable .csv of) the mastodon addresses of all of your twitter follows that have registered with them. The more of us that register, the better it works.
    (2) fedifinder.glitch.me/: put your mastodon address in your twitter bio. Then fedifinder will find all your twitter follows (or followers, or lists) who have put their mastodon address in their twitter bio, and output a .csv of them as above.
(To import the csv: edit profile -> import and export -> import, and be sure that 'merge' is clicked.)

  28. Following the #NeuroscienceMigration - I'm a neuroscientist at Cornell. My recent research focuses on psychoactive drugs such as ketamine and psychedelics. I like a good cup of coffee and going climbing with my kids. #introduction #neuroscience
