  1. OK, here's a one for the almost inevitable neurochemists out there in FediLand, if any of you might be so kind!

"I Was Watching"(!) this YouTube thing tonight from this young man, who was telling me that Stinging Nettles are a great treatment for (implied) minor to moderate Arthritis, bcs weird anti-inflammatory doohickey chemicals in the contents.

Does this sound even vaguely plausible?

Because I'm always happy when my knuckles shut-up and stop 'biting' at me, especially when I'm trying to sleep, but not keen to get stung just for someone else running a 'gullibility test' online!

  2. Astrocytes, the star-shaped glial cells in the brain, actively shuttle lactate to neurons not only as an energy source but as a critical signaling molecule that modulates cellular chemistry and cements learning and memory.

  3. It's not weird for some species to incorporate toxins from their diet as defenses: poison dart frogs, monarch butterflies, sea slugs, etc

But let's get weird and circuitous with it

#Nicotine was developed by plants to kill insects. As a quirk of #neurochemistry, humans use it addictively, so cigarette butts are everywhere

Birds have figured out they can use them in their nests to repel insect parasites

    The original intention of nicotine

    Weird!

  4. Trying harder fails against biology. Adapting to new tasks is not a mindset issue. It requires your brain to physically deploy dopamine.

  5. Quick adapters share one biological advantage. Their brains flood with dopamine during sudden changes. This chemical surge enables a smooth pivot.

  7. Not a cult.. Not a belief system... This is a guy who teaches you how to access your #brain #neurochemistry no matter what you believe. This is the pathway into the brain for anything. And it can change everything. #science #dopamine #brainwashing yourself for your own good is possible!

  12. Does anybody have recommendations on introductory books about #neurochemistry for interested laypeople?

(I'm competent to do a keyword search on book topics, but I am not competent to tell whether the information is accurate and up-to-date.)

  13. Additionally, he wrote and directed over two hundred teaching films and #documentaries. Cohen was born in #WashingtonDC, and raised in #NewYorkCity.

  14. Hey everyone, I did some data science for a publication that just hit print today and they gave me a link to share! The article is behind a paywall, but the publisher is okay with unlimited access to this link? Kinda weird but this is the best way I can give access, so feel free to share with anyone you know who might be interested. Boosts are cool too.
