Conventional wisdom says that a #laptop can be used on a lap.
Reality is, laptops suck up a lot of dust and debris if put down on a fabric surface.
This is why companies moved away from calling them laptops, towards #notebooks.
This lead people to treat them as paper notebooks, throwing them around.
Anyway, I am convinced that the only correct term is
"(somewhat) #Portable, fully #integrated, #Turing# complete, #Neumann #compatible, #computing #device"
But that doesn't roll off the tongue very well, and the abbreviation of #PFITCNCCD caused people to be taken into hospital on suspicion of having a stroke -

In einem heute Abend im DLF geführten Interview kommt Neumann, aus der Londoner Ferne, zu dem Ergebnis, der mutmaßliche CSD-Attentäter hätte keine Bewährungsstrafe erhalten dürfen, sondern lieber eine lange Haftstrafe.
Es sei nötig, anders und vor allem viel härter mit diesen 'gefährlichen Menschen' umzugehen, die deutsche Justiz und Politik sei zu milde.
Der Professor aus der Londoner Ferne tut gerade so, als würden Bewährungsstrafen wie Bonbons verteilt, dabei geht diesen eine intensive Prüfung der Sozialprognose voraus. Jeder Prognose wohnt dabei eine Unsicherheit inne, so entsetzlich dann die Folgen auch sind, wenn sich geirrt wird.
Jetzt hat der mutmaßliche Täter vermutlich die härteste Strafe erhalten, das dürfte ganz in Neumanns Sinne sein, vermutlich auch der Grünen! Todesschüsse durch die Polizei!

ARD produziert Doku gegen Antifa-Ost und „Linksextremismus“!
Unter dem Titel „Linksextremismus - Die unterschätzte Gefahr?“ haben Marie-Luise Grauel sowie Lisa Wreschniok eine knapp 35-minütige Doku für das ARD-Politikmagazin „report München“ produziert.
Alle denkbaren Klischees über Linke, bzw. „Linksextreme“ werden bedient: kriegerisch, gewalttätig und stumpf. Auch die Hufeisentheorie darf nicht fehlen: was wäre wohl los, wenn all diese Angriffe von Neonazis begangen würden.

Ja, @syn_rst - der herausragende SPD - Wirtschaftsjurist Franz Neumann (1900 - 1954) erkannte schon während des 2. Weltkrieges die Öl-Obsession der Nationalsozialisten.
Doch heute kennen zwar viele Hobbes „Leviathan“, aber kaum noch jemand Neumanns aktuell sehr relevanten „Behemoth“!

Too bad Klein + Hummel are history. I still love my O 110s. 🤓
Back in the day I used a pair of #neumann KH 80 as secondary monitors, in white, matching my O 110 mains.
I never loved their white grills, though—compared to the black ones on the O 110.
So last week, as a bit of a night time #relaxation exercise, I took apart the KH 80, and repainted the grills.
#notime to #makemusic… but apparently energy for things like this. 😅🫣😜

I want to go totally overkill on a #mic set up for #DJing IRL at clubs and #InternetRadio.
I was looking/listening to reviews of the #Neumann BCM 705 #broadcast #microphone.
Was thinking about going a #500series route. preamp, EQ, compressor, limiter.
The toss in some occasional(?) extras like
#GameChangerAudio Plasma euro rack module
maybe a tiny amount of chorus and reverb. blend them in tastefully.Partially to sound #KVLT (Metal!!!) and partially to obfuscate my voice because I do make phone calls. Sadly, these days those phone calls are recorded and who knows what is done with that audio but no thanks. The two worlds do not need to be intertwined.

As monitors I got a pair of second hand #Genelec 8030C RAW speakers, without any #DSP (digital signal processing). I am quite happy with them, though I thought about getting the #Neumann KH120 II. At first I thought it is a no-brainer: why should I want to pay extra money for the DSP (for room correction) when I can't access it, but then I found out there is a recent tool called khtool (https://github.com/schwinn/khtool) which allows one to control all settings via the Linux CLI.
Anyway, I want to focus on making music and not playing with the CLI, so I decided to keep a room-correction upgrade for a later point.
Solutions in a creative progress have to be invisible, and yet I must be in control, which does not mean I understand every little detail. Set and forget. I can't waste time playing around. (2/3)

I'm building and selling condenser mics now. This is a LDC (Large Diaphragm Condenser) using the classic Neumann KM84 amplifier circuit. All parts are sourced by me from high quality manufacturers.
This one is spoken for and I'm hoping I'll get another sale from a referral. It is shown next to a standard Sharpie.

Sad that the auctionator is stupid and separated some stuff belonging together like his #Roland MKS-80 and the MPG-80 controller or the #Neumann U47 mic and the dedicated cable.
I liked seeing the obscure 1960ies stuff like chairs, lamps and stands and enjoyed realizing that some of the stuff is part of my studio, too, like Korg MS-20, Yamaha TX81Z or Korg KPR-77. But I have a nicer Hameg oscilloscope.2/3

The manufacturer I met online is winding me my KM84 mic output transformer tomorrow.

I just did an Aliexpress order for some mic capsule mounts. I found some nice ones made in China, and I'm saving about $22 per mount compared to the place I was getting them from.
I'd like to sell some FET847 mics, which are large diaphragm condensors made using the classic Neumann KM84 amplifier circuit.
They're almost like mini U87's since the U87i circuit was based on the KM84 circuit.
Here's what the first one I built looks like.
