Different #Netlabels are - in a variety of different ways - already meeting or at least trying to meet these needs. Additionally, @wiloma has taken the step to include Netlabel-of-one musicians in #Netlabelday
As such, @friendsofccmusic is going to use the federation that already exists and focus exclusively on #podcasters & netlabels. There is, of course, plenty of overlap. @tmray for example is a musician and a podcaster. The orgs mission will be on the podcaster and netlabel side though.

Aside from #netlabelday is there any org where #netlabels come together? I dont think there is. There are a few scene resources like Netlabel Archive but I dont think anyone is coming together.
Is this just because people that run netlabels have no time?
Is it because things are too globally distributed? Organizations like the CNCF get around this by having events in different locations.
Is it a language thing?
Are people just not interested?

it was a pretty busy day yesterday
I'm getting up today with a sense of achievement, although not everything went as it should have
but it was surprisingly full place, i managed to pull off a decent lecture, streaming worked (ok, some mono-stereo shenanigans), got loads of positive feedback, the music acts were amazing, the light was great, sound perfect, zine was printed and sewn...
not vacations yet, but last event pre-summer is behind us

It's #NetLabelDay! Here's to all the #weird #obscure #obsessive #enthused #effusive #outsider #indie #unheard passion projects and all other #music that exists online outside the corporate sales-pitch panopticon AI Amazong Boogle hellscape.
I've had an almighty shittery of a year thus far being sick or recovering 4 out of 6 months, so I haven't prepared anything special this time round - which is a shame, as 2025 marks the 25th year I've run a #Netlabel. A potted history follows, for the two of you out there who are interested in such things!
Starting in 1999 I cobbled together what would now be called a netlabel which I called Novy Mir (after a combo of the samizdat adjacent Russian experimental magazine & the British new wave SF mag New Worlds), with a lot of help from Michael Moorcock and a little bit of Hawkwind-adjacency, I released ten or so albums on tape, a couple of CDs and attempted to make downloads work on dialup (failing on the latter). Later, 2010ish I formed Flamedog Records with Orlando Allen (lots of Gong family, Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth etc). This time with full independent self-hosted paid downloads (as opposed to Bandcramp, Spitifiy etc). In 2018, from the ashes of burnout and mental anguish I set up my third and hopefully final label Tryptophonic Records, which exists to this day. All downloads free, #CreativeCommons and "pay if you like".

It's an #instrumental album with lots of #synths and #keyboards. The sound of trying to hold things together in chaotic times.
I draw from a lot of influences, but if you enjoy groups like Snarky Puppy, Ozric Tentacles, Medeski Martin and Wood, TAUK, or King Crimson, it won't sound like them, but it may be tangentially related and perhaps something you'd enjoy.
