#nerdyharpa update. The bending of the soundboard was way outside my skill set. It soaked, I slowly cranked up the tension...it bent. A few days later I hung it to dry. End results..much like myself it is bent in ...curious ways. I worked out the last steps needed to put on the top soundboard ...and it beat on me like I owed it money. Even after filing down the tabs to match the bends it just would not stay put. Clamps were employed. There will be clean up needed. #nyckelharpa #nerdygurdy

Today in building the #nerdyharpa #nyckelharpa ....the body is slowly taking shape. We are up to the "let's sou vide the top plate" stage wherein we soak the top and bend it via jedi force tricks...aka rubber bands and zip ties...perhaps one of the least fascist uses of a zip tie done up today here in murica. Every step, both with the #nerdygurdy and this, I am stepping well outside my skill set.
If all goes well I can do protest songs on it and will have learned a new skill.

And so we begin. #Nyckelharpa time...break it down. Getting the mise en place in its places, going thru the build in stages, dry fit, for reals fit...the days roll into nights and the week or so down the line until we bow our way into the first scratchy notes of beginning. #nerdygurdy #nerdyharpa #onward

What to do while waiting for the #nerdyharpa to clear customs? Revisit the idea of a #cigarboxguitar #hurdygurdy

The crank shaft and wheel are now housed in a nice thick wood cigar box. I'm using #cbgitty box as the sound board and possible bottom...still figuring the sonic realities of that.

The neck is going to be at least one hardwood one with ,maybe, a fretboard. The drones are going on the sides in a as yet to be determined layout.
