ok I got this game that was free on PS+
it's called Neon White
and it's like furry skeletons?
and they're all so hot? for some reason?
I don't know what the gameplay is like at all. seems like an FPS? maybe a platformer?, I hope it's not unplayable because I'm loving the character design

neon white is a good game. it’s a fast paced action platformer fps that’s not tedious and it’s actually challenges you with idea of improving your skills and tempting you to get a better time.
my friend is blind to temptation and just gunned it through the game.
(good for them bc the jerboa in my head is stuck in a lamborghini with cinderblocks on the accelerator pedal tryina get as many ace medals as possible)

I started playing through #NeonWhite, a #speedrunning game with levels designed to take less than a minute to complete. I've never played anything quite like it before. #AngelMatrix did good.
Weapons (cards) can be discarded to help traverse the levels. You end up playing the same level over and over, until you finally get a "perfect" clear.
It's very #Japanese - the narrative is all handled like a #VisualNovel, and gameplay is super tight/elegant.
I'm into it.

At the start of the February, I've tried out #Ghostrunner on my #SteamDeck and now I am playing #NeonWhite
Both are fast paced FPS platformers with a lot of nuance to master, yet Neon White blows Ghostrunner out of the water in one simple aspect - it just handles better.
Ghostrunner has way too many buttons for its own right, plus only one live instead of three, plus the bullet-parry mechanic instead of shooting. It was a torment I quickly put down.
Neon White on the other hand just... flows. And the built-in timers and leaderboards are super fun to grind. No better game to feel like speedrunner than this one. 👍
